I just bought a used 2002 wrangler tj. The previous owner didn't take good care of the paint or anything. Its not that it is in bad condition, it just looks like that it gets washed every other year, and has never had a coat of wax.
I washed it, and it looks quite nice, but had lots of imbedded contaminants. So I broke out the clay bar, and managed to get almost everything off. One thing, however has me stumped: it has lots of little tar balls behind the front wheels that don't come off, even with the clay. I can scrape one off with my fingernail if I try really hard... But I don't think that's the beat approach.
Do you guys have anything to recommend? Should I get an aggressive clay such as Meguiars Professional Detailing Clay Aggressive

And speaking of clay -- What defines a clay's aggressiveness? I know its the ability to remove stuff, but what is different about its composition?

Sorry I don't have pics, it doesn't show up on my camera. But you guys should know what I'm talking about :D

If it's tar I would try some tar remover or perhaps some rubbing alcohol on a soft microfiber cloth.

You'll ruin your clay bar trying to get that stuff off.

:iagree: clay will have little to no affect on tar, Tar Cleaner an youll probably need to apply several applications for spots with heavier tar.

Mineral spirits or wd-40 would be worth a try if all else fails.

+1 for a dedicated tar remover and also coupled with a plastic razor blade.

Tarminator + plastic razor blade (or Tarminator + Safe Scrub Bug/Tar Sponge). You want to attack the area of the tar that has adhered to the paint, not so much the actual balls of tar.
