Review: DP Gloss Tire Gel (New Formula-Blind Review)

Cons
1.- For those who like really glossy tires you will be missing out

I would have to disagree on it not being glossy. I was actually getting ready up write up a review on this when I when I saw this thread. I guess I don't have to now :)

I found the new DP Gloss Tire Gel to have more of a high gloss then a matte or low gloss.

Tires were scrubbed clean using ARO, dried off then the DP was applied with a foam wax applicator.

This picture was taken (no flash) 8hrs after being applied and driven on for about 5 miles.

I find it amazing that we can have such different results from the same product. This kind of throws those "recommend to me" threads out the window :)

It goes without saying, but as always Corey excellent write up. I really like the new formula also and will be actively watching your updates to see how the polycharging affects the product. In addition to the title of review master, we may need to start referring to you and old tiger as master chemists.

Does anyone else wonder what Corey's science projects in school looked like? He MUST have been the master of independent and dependent variables! :xyxthumbs:

Thank you Jon! Thats funny too!

That is incredible! Thanks for posting or nobody would have known. Did you apply 2 coats or something. That is too crazy! Maybe you apply it thicker then I do? If you wipe it with your finger is there any residue whatsoever that comes off?

:iagree:

I got different results on different brand tires on the same car with the exact same cleaning and application techniques. I applied 2 coats 30 mins apart and got a very glossy look (just like Dubbin's pic) I did not buff or wipe after applying, I have read and Mike even has a video on here that says you can really control the gloss by not buffing or buffing a little or buffing a lot. I really like this about the DP that it can be very versatile. I'm going to try buffing next time to see if I can get all my tires to have the same look, but right now it is still shining after 2 weeks of driving.

One thin coat is all it took and I just went out and wiped it with my finger and got nothing. I thought for sure I would have a greasy mess to wipe off my finger. That just made me like this stuff even more :dblthumb2:

The difference in the results that we both had really is amazing. If you don't mind, I would like to send you a sample of what I have to see if you get the same results that I just did. Just PM me an address.

As always Corey, love your reviews, and the added pictures are nice too!

I think you are on to the source of the variance, All tires are not created equal. But OTOH my Michelins look a lot like Corey's. BTW I am using boosted DP now on both vehicles.

That is VERY different than what I get. BTW I have Michelins on both vehicles. They are made here in SC and are far superior to the OE tires.

I also put it on the Cooper tires on my wifes car and got the same shiny results.

Interesting, I didn't realize it could be that different. But none of us did any buffing right?

I didn't think you were going to get any residue. Incredible you can get that gloss and have no residue!

Will do

Indeed!

Thank you Meghan! :)

The first time I used this tire gel I applied two coats 30 minutes apart and did not buff it off. It came out pretty glossy. I just can't remember how shiny it was before the second coat. When I applied it recently I did one coat and buffed it with an MF towel. As you can imagine, that resulted in a more matte look.

My tires and wheels are due for a cleaning, but I probably won't get to it til the weekend. I will try to take some pics when do it.

Please tell us what tires you have when you post since it seems to matter.

My wife has Cooper tires on her car and they didn't come out that shiny. I just received my DP tire gel last month so it's the new version.

Could it be the applicator everyone is using? I use the LC Foam tire applicators that AG sells. Maybe the foam is absorbing more of the gel? Corey was using an Eagle One foam applicator. What were you using, Dubbin1?

I'm detailing my wife's car this weekend. I'll shine the tires up with one coat of DP and take pictures.

I used the Eagle one wipe for the old formula and the round Cobra wipes for the New formula.

What's up with the wheel on the tire that has the old DP formula?

Either my wife hit something that sprayed on it or I left ARO on the plastic too long. I can't be sure as it was dirty when I cleaned it.

Finally got around to cleaning the tires and wheels on my cars yesterday. Both were cleaned with ARO, rinsed, and dried. I then applied DP Gloss Tire Gel with a new Pinnacle foam applicator.

Acura TL's tire - Michelin - It looks like these came out a bit more shiny. The red reflection off the tires/wheels is apparently from the Ohio State shirt I was wearing. :)
