Review: DP Gloss Tire Gel (New Formula-Blind Review)

Finally got around to cleaning the tires and wheels on my cars yesterday. Both were cleaned with ARO, rinsed, and dried. I then applied DP Gloss Tire Gel with a new Pinnacle foam applicator.

Toyota Prius's tire - Goodyear

Acura TL's tire - Michelin - It looks like these came out a bit more shiny. The red reflection off the tires/wheels is apparently from the Ohio State shirt I was wearing. :)

:wow: That looks fantastic, thats probably the best look for tires I've seen. Definitely gonna buy some DP Gloss after I run out of Opti-bond.

Looking forward to trying it on Sky's tires. It looks really great on tires that aren't as old as my DD tires are.

AFTER WEEK 2 UPDATE:
Another couple hundred miles and 2 or 3 more thunderstorms.
Parked outside 24-7

Observations:
The new formula is now slightly darker then the original formula.
The original formula also lost its gloss and looks similar to the new formula
The new side appears to be darker then the side that is new with Polycharger added (Expecting this to reverse at some point)

I think I'm just surprised to see that there is any dressing left on the tires at this point. You're talking over a thousand(?) miles and 5+ weeks of sitting outside? Since I posted my pictures on 9/26 I have dressed my tires at least twice that I can remember.

You would really be surprised at how mine look, of course I might have put only 50 miles on the car and it sets in the garage all the time :D

Im glad to see a difference! I didnt think it was placebo.

I hear you. When the tires were dirty I was thinking all 3 dressings were dead at the same time. I figured the PC was a waste in this product. After I wiped that tire with a wet cloth and dried it I found that side slightly darker and was surprised.

I hear you. I thought it was dead and it almost is but as you can see the polycharged side is darker which means there is something there.
NOTE: That picture is taken in shade. In brutal sunlight the tires definitely look like they are past due for another coat.

Oh Dwayne, I almost forgot that last picture (the fresh one) with Opti and DP has some of your DP on it as well. Your batch was the same as the one I've been using. :xyxthumbs:

DP new formula vs. Optibond
Well, I've got something of note to report on the last test which was:
The DP side is darker and it has taken its place over Opti for me but as you see in the photos its very interesting that in different lighting the Opti actually looks better.

This is after about 2 weeks and a couple days of continuous rain this week.

The first picture was taken in the shade with flash.

In the sun it was not anywhere near as noticeable. The second shot is the sun shot.

Great review. I still love the original blend's shine the best (that's just me) but still, great review and comparison shots. Thank you. //bluegoose//

Well Corey, I really appreciated this review! Im gonna keep boosting DP new version with PC H2O. What do you think you will do?

Thank Jim, I agree the new DP is now my favorite over Opti. I also agree that the polycharger impoves it a little further. It'll be DP for my tires for the forseeable future. The UTTG is very nice as well and lasts forever but not as dark I think. I'll do a 50/50 on a tire with DP and UTTG.

So the difference in results probably has more to do with the type of tire. Is that what you're thinking?

Yes, I think newer tires with no cracking are one part and the actualy type of tire is another part. Application probably has something to do with it but probably not much.

I'll be using the DP on my Sky tires next week and I'm hoping that I can get it on without it being too glossy. I would have done this sooner but have UTTG on them and it has just lasted and lasted. Going to go ahead and strip (wash the wheels with Sonax and tires with ARO next week and apply DP on the tires. Probably will put UTTG on one section of one tire as well.
