The odor presents itself once bacteria begins to form and grow. Until the bacteria is destroyed or digested it will continue to produce this lovely odor.

Eliminating this odor at the biological or organic level is the only surefire way I'm aware of short of replacing the entire interior.

Pet stores carry these products and for good reason....they work.

Generally, these liquids are applied liberally to the affected area and a little beyond. Fully saturate this area and leave wet for 24 to 48 hours.

sat it atop a rubbermaid lid from a gray tub.
2 hours after pushing the button, i removed the lid with the remaining pink goo that was contained in the box.

smokers odor seems to be gone. really cant tell yet over the baby power smell the Dakota Odor Bomb expels.

I'll check the car after 1 week of the wife driving around. I'm thinking the baby powder smell should be gone, and if there is any smoke smell left I'll be able to identify it.

quite a bit of the odor bomb smell is lingering. my wife likes that part.
very faint smell of smoke that I can catch, but she cant.

Hey guys, Ive been battling smoke smell in my car i just bought. i tried, ozone generator, removed seats and shamppoed twice, commercial strengh febreze. nothing really worked. i came acrossed Auto vaccine and said what the heck, it actually worked, if it only works for 6 months still worth the 20 bucks, go to odor science.com

Hello everyone!

Just wanted to share what I have been doing to eliminate organic odors (milk, sweat, spoiled food, mold) in vehicles. For vehicles with smoke damage I use a completely different method.


I use a product called Nature's Miracle stain and odor remover found at most pet supply stores for about $20 per gallon


I detail interiors for dealerships so usually I do not know where the spill happened or where the source of the odor is coming from so I usually treat all carpet and fabric area's the same way


I spray the carpets heavily with the Nature's Miracle
Next I spray the seats if they are cloth and I put garbage bags over the backs and place them over the bottoms with something heavy to weight them down.
this keeps the enzyme solution from drying out while I'm cleaning the rest of the car.
then I do the headliners with Chemical Guys Lightning Fast Stain Extractor mixed 20:1 (seeing as it will not effect the adhesives or leave water marks or discoloration on the headliners) then I wipe clean
once the headliner is done I go back and reapply the Nature's Miracle to the carpets (which are not covered with plastic)
then back to cleaning and scrubbing the plastics in the car
once that is done I take my polisher equipped with a carpet brush attachment and use it on the carpet and seats (this really frees up any dirt trapped in the carpet)
then I vacuum clean
last I pull the seat belts and saturate them with the Nature's Miracle and wipe clean
I never extract the enzyme solution from the carpets or upholstery.
once the upholstery is completely dry to the touch I check for odors and reapply the Nature's Miracle if needed.

If for some reason this treatment does not fix the odor problem I treat with Unsmoke products followed by thermal fogging
Their stuff is super expensive but has never failed.
but it's rare that the Nature's Miracle doesn't work.
 
I got a problem with an unpleasant smell coming from my A/C, particularly with its fan. My plan is to do the following:

1. With my car's engine off, I'll place the Dakota Odor Bomb at the center of the car (carpet between the front seats and backseats) and lock the Dakota Odor bomb.
2. Let it sit for 45 mins.
3. I'll turn on the ignition, turn the A/C fan on HIGH, wait for 15 more minutes and hope that the fog gets into the vents as well.

Do you think this would work? Or should I just get the Clean Air Genie instead? Thanks a lot AG! :)
 
Do you have a steamer? You may be able to resolve this just by steaming the vents. If not, then yes, your plan is next. However I like to start the car, set AC to recirc and then deploy the bomb. Let that circulate for 10 minutes then shut the car off and let the product do its work. You want to get the neutralizer in the vents and let it sit.
 
Thanks for your idea, I think that would work much more efficient if i'll first circ the AC. Have you tried the Dakota bomb personally? Basing from the others here in the thread, they say there's a risk of staining/damping the interiors. Which makes me think twice of getting this or the Clean Air Genie.

Try one Meguiar's air refresher odor eliminators. Gets into the AC system.
