Blind Samples

Ok, my son and I started preping his paint for the 3 different blind wax samples that Richard sent us. We will be able to complete our report tomorrow after we do a little polishing. Any way we had the opportunity to try out the blind interior cleaner sample, so here goes. We really liked the cleaner, it has a nice fresh, clean sent, that is very subtle. The cleaning power seems to be very good. It left a very natural, clean, matt finish. As a matter a fact in the first picture you can see where it stripped the 303, and left a very matt finish. Would I buy this stuff; yeah probably, however I have a bunch on 1Z premium Cockpit, and DP Interior cleaner that I also like very much. Can't wait to find out what it is:props: We also tried it on floor mats. We just sprayed it on and wiped it off with a terry towel. It did a GREAT job. I think this stuff would work very well on other items that you don't want to use products on that could make them slick. Like motorcycle seats and tires, etc. Here are a few pictures.

First off, my apologies to Dwayne for taking so long to try these out. If it wasn't the weather, it was life that was thwarting my attempts to try them out. I used these on my 2005 Silver Subaru Forrester, which is my DD. I didn't a chance to work on it till about 5pm and it was fairly dark. I will try to get some pictures tomorrow if the sun comes out.

He sent me some blind samples of QD, Tire Gel, and a Liquid Wax.

I'm going to start with the Tire Gel, since I am pretty sure it is DP. It had the same consistency and smell since I have some of that. The final result also looked the same as when I used it in the past.

For the QD, I had washed my car last weekend in hopes of trying this stuff them but wasn't able to get to it. It rained a few times this week which gave me a perfect opportunity to try out this QD. I have never used a QD before, so I have nothing to compare it against. I would usually just rewash my car. I won't say what it looks or smells like since it looks like Dwayne is sending this around for other people to try out. I will say it did the job and made the surfaces super slick afterwards.

For the Liquid wax, I have no idea since the only Liquid wax I have used in the past is 845. It went on and came off really easily, I wasn't sure if it was a WOWO wax so I let it haze for about 10 minutes. I was pretty impressed with it as it made my car look very wet.

All in all I had a good time with this, it breaks me out of my routine with the products I typically use to clean and wax my car.

Thanks again to Dwayne for sending me these samples

No problem at all, it happens to all of us.

I can tell you what 2 of them are. The tire gel is Opti-Bond and the wax is Liquid Nattys Blue. I think Richard is the only one left to try the QD before the big reveal.

Ok my son and I were able to complete our homework today (thanks Richard). Richard sent us 2 liquid waxes and a spray wax; Wax A - wipe on let haze, buff off; Wax B -WOWO. My son and I prepped his 1982 (original paint) Datsun B210 by Washing, claying, and a quick polish with m205. In the last couple of weeks we had applied the Meggs High Tech Wax #26 that Dewayne sent us, and the PB EX-P Sealant that Jon had sent us. We decided it would be fun to strip everything off and start fresh. We thought we would compare the 3 waxes and 1 sealant against each other. But first lets get the spray wax out of the way. We applied it to the left front fender. I seemed pretty nice. It went on easy and buffed off easy with no streaking. It left a nice slick finish. I would like to try it again under other circumstances (ie temp, humidity, etc). Ok on to the waxes :

We applied all of these extra heavy and also to trim to see how removal woud be in such a case.

Meggs High Tech #26
- This is what I originally said when the sample was still blind to me. I stick with my frist impressions; "WOW, this stuff seems great. Went on VERY easy, buffed off VERY easy, did NOT stain trim, and looks great. ".

PB EX-P Sealant - This is what I originally said when the sample was still blind to me. I stick with my frist impressions; "It went on easily, and buffed off pretty easily as well, but not as easy as WG DGPS does when overly applied. I also deliberately put some on black trim, it did not stain it but once again it seemed harder to remove from the trim then WGDGPS. It left the paint looking good, shiny, and smooth feeling. I will monitor durability and report back later".

Wax A - Seemed a little harder to apply and remove than the others. I wasn't real impressed with this one. It did not stain trim.

Wax B -This was my favorite of all four. It went on and came off very easy. It looked great and left the paint feeling very slick. No stain on the trim either.

This is how I rated the beading and sheeting

Wax B - Definitely hands down had the VERY best looking beads and sheeted water the best as well.

Meggs # 26- Came in second in both categories.

PB EX-P Sealant - Came in third in both categories.

Wax A -Lagged way behind the rest and came in last place.

Here's a few pictures: (we will monitor durability and report back in the future)....

Awesome work Tad! Thats some serious effort you put in. Thanks so much for the effort and all the pictures and labeling! :props:
I can't wait to find out what the products are.

Ok ok, I give in. Mark and Corey still have to try their stuff out but here goes:

Wax A - Surf City Garage Barrier Reef Carnauba Wax. I bought this stuff because someone mentioned it was very close to Liquid Souveran, wrong. Not even close in my opinion. I would recommend L Souveran to anyone, as for the Barrier Reef I'm not sure. I haven't tried Meg's #26 yet but it sounds like it would be better.

Wax B - 3M Performance Finish. Yes I know Mike classified this as a sealant. This stuff is amazing. A co-worker uses this stuff all the time and I picked some samples up at Detail Fest but never used them. Well I finally did and was so impressed that I bought 4 bottles locally @ $3 each. My friend (co-worker) wanted 2 because he was paying full price and was just about out.

Spray Wax A - Mothers FX Spray Wax

Spray Wax B - Surf City Garage Speed Demon Wax Detailer

Interior Cleaner - Surf City Garage Dash Away. One of the few products that I've really been impressed with, although their whole line is way over-priced. 1Z CP is still my favorite followed by Meg's Quick Interior Detailer.

Soap A - Meg's Ultimate Wash & Wax

After SEMA I will be sending out a couple more soaps and a few other products.

So I tried out soap A today and I'm glad I did before I saw that Richard posted what it was. As far as I'm concerned they can keep it. Plenty of suds but almost no lubricity and it spotted like nothing I have seen before.

My (not so) blind sample of Uwwp got here today from Old Tiger! Can't wait to try it out.

i can also attest to how surprisingly good performance finish it. so easy to use. i love it for door jams

Nothing new to add, just bumping the tread :)

What tread?

The tire tread that's gonna be on your forehead after I run you over for making fun of me again.

Leave me alone it was a late night in the rocket room.

Old Tiger was kind enough to send a (not so blind) sample of Ultima Waterless Wash Plus+ Concentrate, concentrated waterless auto wash, waterless car wash . As consistent AG forum regulars will note, Old Tiger and CEE DOG have been absolutely raving about this product since it was introduced. As a big fan of FK425 for a QD and a user of ONR as only an addition to my rinse water, I was certainly a skeptic.

1/2 an ounce of the green liquid mixes up 22 oz of the Waterless Wash. We have had some odd weather this weekend in lovely south florida, with highs around 70 and lows around 50. Most importantly, it was an overcast day all day which is very unusual for West Palm Beach. This weather does however let you see all the flaws in a Titanium Silver BMW.

My car had a light covering of dirt on it from driving to a high school football game on Friday night, so why not give it a try?

Spraying the Ultima on the car, I was looking closely for any type of marring that the paint would get. All I have to say is that the Ultima is all that Old Tiger and CEE DOG have advertised. It cleaned the light dirt off the car by using my Cobra emerald 530 (kermit the frog) and left the paint very clean and slick. No sun today so I can't comment 100% on shine, but it looks great with the overcast sky reflected in it.

The product is a joy to work with, very economical mixing up your own 22 oz bottles and can be a daily clean when I get to my parking garage each day in my daily driver.

Corey and Old Tiger have never steered me wrong and they are still 100% accurate. Dare I say that I may not use my 425 again?

Thanks for turning me on to a new favorite!

Mchess- awesome review and thanks to OT for sending the sample. How do u think it will do with heavy rain spot and or dirt??? It's in my 2buy basket on my next purchase. Especially after OT and Cee reviewed in with such high praise's!

On Saturday I finally got a chance to use the "liquid wax" that Dwayne sent me. Before I applied it, I cleaned my hood with Wolfgang Paintwork Polish Enhancer and then did a wipe down with IPA. To apply, I used a new Pinnacle foam wax applicator. It went on quite easily, and it only took a very small amount to cover half the hood. After allowing it to dry to a haze, I buffed it off with a Cobra edgeless microfiber towel. Removal was pretty much effortless.

For the other half of the hood I used DG 601/105 which is what I planned to use for the rest of the car. Despite taping it off, it was difficult to see much difference between the two sides. This was at least partially due to poor lighting but likely there really was not a whole lot of difference in appearance. BTW, I took a lot of pictures and none of them turned out that great. I posted the best couple I had.

Anyway, I have to say it has a "chemical" smell a lot like WGDGPS, but I am not sure what it is. I am curious to find out. And thanks again to Dwayne for including me.

Liquid souveran ;)

Also this weekend I got to try out two paste waxes that Tad (Dark Horse) sent to me as blind samples.

The two smell very similar, both a kind of coconut scent. One was a little whiter then the other but both are a yellow-white color. One of the blind samples was labeled WOWO and the other Haze then wipe.

I split the hood on my Bimmer after ensuring the hood was clean with an IPA wipedown. On to the test ...

The WOWO went on very easily and I was able to quickly lay down a very thin layer of the WOWO wax. Wiping off the wax was extremely easy, actually a pleasure to use on the very clean paint on my car. After the wax left a very slick surface and the paint had a very nice glean to it. As I mentioned above we had a very unusual overcast day here in South Florida, but I could tell the wax lent a high reflection to the metallic paint. Altogether a very easy to use wax that I would recommend to others.

The other was similar in properties, except for the need to let haze before removing. It was also extremely easy to lay a very thin layer on the paint and removal after hazing was also extremely easy. I thought this side had a slightly less slick surface then the WOWO wax. Again, the reflection was hard to tell in the overcast but they seemed to have a similar look on both sides.

Altogether I would use either wax, although I am not great at the whole guessing game. If I had to pick one I would have to pick the WOWO since it did not require hazing and seemed to be slightly more slick.

I believe the two waxes are MaxWax (which I have used) and Souveran (which I have not, only the liquid version). I did notice a difference as mentioned above, but for $55 difference between jars, I can live with the MaxWax.

Either way, I thought both waxes would make a fine addition to anyones collection. Thanks Tad for giving me something fun to do on a Sunday afternoon before Volleyball with my daughter.

Heavy Dirt is a subjective thing, so this is difficult to answer. I would think if there is any type of thick clumpy dirt on the paint I would not use this product.

The 3 series BMW seems to generate a wind swirl right behind the Bangle Butt on the car. These leaves a considerable amount of dirt/dust that accumulates on the rear bumper right under the trunk lid. This is ALWAYS the dirtiest spot on my car. The Ultima handled this spot from the rain on Friday with no difficulty.

Not sure I answered your question exactly, but I would not hesitate to press buy on your cart. If you are disappointed, I will happily purchase it from you.

Thats great Jon! Thanks for the excellent review and I'm happy you like it!

Thanks for the great blind review toxygene! The left side looks slightly darker to me. Is that just because of the angles of the 2 surfaces relative to the ridge of the hood? In other words is the difference based on the location of the sun?
Which side is liquid Souveran and which DG?
