Differences and benefits to hydrotech pads

I used the thick cyan this past weekend on a black Chevy 2500 and loved them. What am I missing with the thin? Can someone answer this question?

All those poor pads, one use then the trash can. I feel sorry for them LOL

I'm gonna give these a shot when I run low on pads again.

:laughing::haha:I have around 35 yellow foam wax applicator pads too...

They should be easier with the PC XP, but I will tell you after next weekend.

What are the equal to in the CCS line?
Cyan=orange ccs?
Tangerine=white ccs?
Crimson=red ccs?

Is there anything that CAN"T be used on Hydro Tech pads? It says these are for water based products, but product labels aren't exactly telling us if they are water based or not.

Yes, HT pads can be used with any type of polish. (Not just water based.)

From AG store: "Foam Pads work with any type of polish but their pre-polymer composition makes them ideal for water-based polishes"

They are probably a bit cheaper.
They probably cut a little faster and without as much "twisting" happening within the pad.
They probably get hotter since they have less foam material to disperse heat.

Those are all guesses...

If I'm not mistaking, I believe I read a statement from [email protected] somewhere here on the forum about this:

Cyan - cuts like yellow finishes like orange
Tangerine - cuts like orange finishes like white
Crimson - like a cross between gray and red

I could be very wrong on this. Hopefully someone will chime in with correct info.

Edit: Richard has it

I think its somewhere between what Richard said and this old chart. I think the tangerine cuts better then what this chart shows and finishes better then the white a lot of times. The chart doesn't show Crimson but the Crimson should take over around the Grey area. This is all generally speaking.

I'm pretty sure this is correctomundo!

I love the HT pads, these are the only pads i use with a rotary. The flats and ccs i use with the XP (which is uhmm..thrice?). And most of all, the pad is well built, foam material is sturdy and very different from the other pads. I never had any issues using them, no deformation, no foam depressions, and they hold up extremely well! I've used them over and over, and it performs like it is brand new. :)

The only thing i've noticed with the pads is that they generate heat more than the other pads. I just ordered the kompressors to try too, so i can't compare yet. :)

Based on my experience, it's:
Cyan = between yellow and orange
Tangerine = a little less than orange but more than white (I love these for 1steppers...i have never experienced marring on these pads yet) Haven't tried the crimson yet since the Tang finishes mar-free. Just my experience. :)

The crimson pad is not good for lsps? I was hoping to be able to use then to apply paste wax like collinite.... Would that work or should I be using something else

The crimson will be fine for your lsp I'm sure. In fact it may be great! I've just never used it as I use these flat blue pads I have or apply by hand

As I understood it, that is what this pad was designed for.

This is why I was surprised that Mike said the crimson could be used to follow up after the cyan and remove any remaining haze.

This is what the description says:

"The crimson foam is designed to apply waxes, glazes, and sealants in flawless, even coats without causing swirls. The soft foam has no cutting ability. It simply serves as an applicator pad. Since the crimson pad is made of Hydro-Tech foam, it does not soak up liquid waxes and paint sealants like some finishing pads can. You'll be able to cover more paint with less product."

I assume this is why Richard only has 1 crimson pad and dozens of the blue and tangerine?

I just placed an order for half a dozen of the new low profile hydro-tech pads.

Is that all you got? (Whimpee)...:laughing:

Gee, I wonder who got both you guys started on HT's...hmm...:cheers:

Sadly, yes that's all I have. :awman: I would have around 30 more but...
If these work out better than the original style, I will be ordering around 40-50 more! And yes, you got me started on the hydro tech's! :props:

Send a sample ;)

j/k pads are too spensive for that... guess I'll pony up.

all this HT hype has got me wanting to get in on it.

:joking:To be honest I don't have any of the low profiles yet. You tease me about having a Mini-Geek wharehouse, but I would have to say, by now you must have the expanded wharehouse version... Im the MAN:nomore:

What can I say? I love Autogeek! And the way I see it, it's your fault I love the HT pads so you owe me for the 37 pads pictured. I won't count the 30+ that I've tossed! :laughing:
