Its getting cold and I was wondering what you guys do when it gets cold. I have a garage and I plan on getting a heater to heat it but the car needs to be cleaned first. I was thinking of running my hose from inside ad usint hot water through my pressure washer....but obviously I will be getting wet. Any idea of what kinda clothes I could were and how do you detailer do it in the winter months. I plan on making a few extra bucks doing cars this winter because lots of people only do it during the summer. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I just pull the cars into my heated garage ;)

Dress in layers. While washing wear rain gear and rubber boots. If at all possible, wash in direct sunlight

Happy Winter Detailing Im the MAN

Run a hose through your kitchen sink through the garage and hope you don't get too much ice build up outside haha. Or as Dwayne said, a heated garage.

Yeah but what about when the car's too dirty for that kind of wash?

You can always hit them with the pressure sprayer at the local car wash or use your own pressure washer outside quickly and then drive in quickly

i wont wash unless its the mid 40s at least. the days of washing at freesing temps are over.

I did that last year but somedays it would be so cold it would ice by time I got done with the car....and like another said a dirty car drivin through salts for weeks on end I imagine would be too dirty for I'm guessing onr is waterless system?

ONR is a rinseless wash. We don't have tons of freezing in Dallas, but I spray the car down with ONR in a garden sprayer and then wash away.

You can always use your pressure washer outside to knock the gunk off then wheel it into a garage with a heater to use the ONR (Optimum No rinse)

I detailed last season right up until November and started back in Febuary. I hope to go a bit longer this season. I have the Nomad Pressure Washer and ONR. All I need is a vehicle and a garage. I carry my little space heater when it's real cold. As long as the water doesn't freeze I will work. Layer your clothing, wear gloves.

move to florida and sweat your A$$ off most of the year.....still better than hibernating for 4 months....hmmmmmm

It was florida temp here all summer and I was hating life. I prefer 75 year round.

I know one detailer right here close by (I won't call him by name) that has a year round air conditioned, totaly awesome shop with just about......no definitely, everything you could want to use, try or test, and he even gets to take pictures of girls standing next to his finished product.

j/k MP......shhhhhh

It doesn't get that cold here in SoCal, but even on nights in the Winter when it does get fairly cold, simply plugging in my Halogens (three of them) is enough to heat up the garage in no time!
