My "New to Me" Shop

You can do it & Congrats on your new shop. Can't wait to see the AFTER pic's!!! Wish you the best.:dblthumb2:

Thanks all for the kind comments! It will be after thanksgiving before I move there for good, and will start working on the shop on the days I'm not detailing and possibly nights. Going to be a long process but it will be worth it in the end..........I hope :)

Wow, that toolbox is prolly worth at least 3k. Nice score there.

I was going to say exactly that!!

Nice deal! It is very easy to visualize the future potential through your pics. Looks like it's already plumbed for compressed air too. Did they leave behind an air compressor too?

Looks like they may have been doing some painting? Using the fans to extract air?

After meeting you Mr. Parker at the SA GTG on Thurday...you are the right man for the job. You are one who follows his dreams..and follows thru on everything that has to do with your passion of detailing.

I agree.

After meeting John in person he's the right man for the job... young, healthy, strong and determined...

This will be fun to follow your success...

:)

Yes Mike you are correct, this shop was used as an automotive body shop for some time. There's fans on the one side with some kind of air filter fan on the other side of the room, with air lines run to most of the shop. And yes they left a huge air compressor on the outside of the building. Once I checked all the fluids on the air compressor I turned it on to see if it still worked and shockingly it turned on and started building pressure. I turned it off rather quickly because I want to fully go through it before operating for any length of time. It seemed like a nice air compressor although I don't know anything about them other that it was a Ingersool Rand 120 gallon, tank was horizontal. Judging by the breaker it was on its over 200 volts.

Congratulations John! Looking forward to following this. Lots of work but it'll be worth all the more to you when you're done.

The compressor probably has a 25 HP 3 phaze motor. the pumps on those are pretty simple to pull apart if need be. I.R. will give you a complete parts break down if you call their tech line. I.R. is a very reliable compressor with parts readily available in most cases. If it's pumping up pressure, I would check the belt deflection, replace the air filters and change the crankcase oil and run it. There should be a zerk fitting or 2 on the electric motor that should be greased. Make sure that the auto drain valve is plugged in and working if it has one. If you have questions about it feel free to PM me as I have maintained those units for years and am willing to help where I can.

Pm'd Thanks Dave! Really appreciate it :dblthumb2:

Well John..seems like you have a lot of "fans" on your side..now you can't let us down...you just gotta remember when you wake up in the morning..that what you have to do is LESS than what you had to do the day before...it can be overwhelming but you just take it one day at a time. One room at a time.

I'm amazed at what all they let go with the shop, I'm surprised nobody broke into and took a lot of that stuff... That is really awesome they let you keep everything in it.

Yea it will start off overwhelming for sure but I've never been a person to give up :) I'm sure I will need some forum members advice for sure so I'm glad I have "fans" on my side :xyxthumbs:

Yea, I was shocked at how much stuff was still in there untouched/not stolen.

nice place...good luck... it this in Houston?

The shop/house are near Beaumont, in a little town called Buna :)

It has the skeleton to be a great looking shop and you never know, you might find a nice treasure hidden in all that junk.

Remember hearing about the people who bought a house at auction and then later found KFC's recipe in the attic? That's kinda what I mean-its a long shot but ya never know....

well all the block still looks good .you shoud see if they will give you some help on tax's they did for me and it payed for the hole redo in sw fl plus they payed 2nd year payments also .

:)

fans like that would not be used for painting.... and if they were, they must have done some seriously low end stuff.

My guess, if used for bodywork, they were used for pulling air for a prep station -> sanding bondo and such. even that might be stretch

the building has potential , needs a plan and some work.
u may wanna make sure your electrical is intact , from the way the building looks i wouldn`t play around with it.
nice to hear that u step up your game and look serious into it.
don`t forget once done have an open party , invite some clubs / any type of clubs , market to your area and hold in there it may be slow at first.
if detail/correction doesn`t pick up offer washes or film in parallel with products
