:iagree: HT's are also my favorite pads! Cut fast and finish great!

1-I have not used the thinner ones yet, but they should correct even faster.

2- Cyan - Has a little more cut than the LC orange, but finishes better.
---Tangerine - Has a little more cut than white, but finishes better.

I believe I've heard these Hydro Tech pads shred easier than others. Have I read wrong? How many should I buy at the first order?

I plan to correct 2 year old swirls on my own VW Passat (Dark Blue Metallic) so I guess I won't need Cyan much, but do I?

A Kestrel DA. Something close to Meguiar's G220 (or G110). Have a Flex (the big one) circular polisher too. But I'm very new in rotary using and it is a heavy beast. :)

The key factor is this tool needs to keep the pads rotating under pressure in order to use any chemicals or any pads and actually remove swirls.

Removing swirls means removing some paint and if the pads only vibrate, not rotate, which is what a lot of Wood DA Sanders do, then you won't be able to remove the swirls.

If you can get a 5" backing plate on your Kestrel DA then go for the thin Hydro-Tech pads here,

Thin is in... New Lake Country Hydro-Tech Low Profile 5 1/2 x 7/8 Inch Foam Pads

Get at least 2-3 each of the Cyan and Tangerine, at 1-2 of the Crimson pads..

Here's a couple pictures I took to show the difference between the thickness of the new 7/8" pads and the 1 1/4" version of these pads.
