For those pros who have difficulty accepting credit cards as payments for their work, I saw this very cool invention from the guy who invented twitter.

Squareup.com shows you the device which hooks up to a iPhone/Droid which along with software allows you to accept swipe and accept cards.

Extremely cool, you should look into it. Too bad I don't detail for a living!

My friend Joe, aka Superior Shine switched from his old cell phone to an iPhone, I asked him why and he said it was so he could accept credit cars at the job location.

Pretty cool technology...

:)

Interesting! I didn't know there was a credit card reader for iPhone; the app I use on mine requires you to punch in the card number manually.

There have been similar things in the past for other phones. Some units have their own data connection.

I have seen some of the others out there. I thought this setup was interesting based on price, ease of setup and compatibility with the two largest installed smartphone os's.

ive been using this for a few months. im a photographer and business' always want to pay with a credit card. and if you cant accept cards you have to wait 4-6 weeks for accounting to process a check :(

What's your impression of it? I think we are going to get one for PTO and SAC fundraising at my kids school.

Lol, wish i could tell you. I personally have no used it. my assistants or co-worker have but I have not personally swiped a card with it.

I just got one. Works like a champ, although admittedly it was only a test charge of a dollar.

You can add a picture to the bill, description of service of course. Customer can be sent a receipt via email and that email has a link back to square that then provides a link to see via google maps to show were the charge took place.

Fee's are reasonable also 2.75% +$0.15 (swipe) I think it is 3.75% +$0.30(keyed in). No monthly fee and no setup fee.

Mark
