Anything I should know before taking care of a 2010 Nissan Murano?

Early next year I will start taking care of a murano. After seeing a couple posts of higher end Nissans having a "self correcting" paint i am concerned. If it has this paint Is there anything different I should do? Initially it will be a wash/seal/wax but the customer has every intentions on keeping the cars paint like new for years. Since new he has gone through the local car wash/scratcher and im sure i can get him to eventually go for a correction.

They discontinued the self healing paint a few years back as per one of the local Nissan dealerships here. I had the same concern when a regular client flipped his Buick and started talking about getting a 2010 Nissan Altima. I had him ask about it and not buy a model that had that paint unless he wanted to pay double for my services.

I just detailed an '09 Murano and did the same procedures I normally do. My problem was water spots and not swirls, so it may be different for you.

Being that it's a 2010, I wouldn't expect the overall condition of the paint to be too bad, other than some occasional RIDS. You might be able to focus on the RIDS, do a wash, clay, possibly only a singe step correction on the rest of the car using an AIO, IPA wipe down, 2 coats Sealant, and a wax. Remember, take the LEAST AGGRESSIVE approach.

I have a 2010 Maxima and the paint seems to be on the hard side. I think only Infiniti carries the self healing paint now. It was in the G37 brochure I picked up. I got some swirls back in my ride thanks to the fun winter so far in the Northeast. I will be polishing this out come spring time with Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover and Finishing Glaze.

Every Nissan I have ever owned or worked on had many chips in front paint. I think the paint is rather thin in application. Protect well and consider a clearbra if you drive highways often.

I do have a ton of rock chips in the front bumper from the NJ Turnpike. But everytime I tried to correct I have to use an orange LC pad with the wolfgang total swirl remover. :buffing:

The tailgate is not metal.. it's plastic. Keep that in mind when buffing.

Only the Infiniti's had the self healing paint up to 2009. Correct me if I'm wrong.
