Sand/Salt Trucks

I need the truck because I own a house and when I'm doing repairs and need to transport 2x4's, sheet rock, plywood etc, it's nice to not have to strap anything to my roof, or try to squeeze it into a car or small SUV.

I do use it to carry my detailing supplies too when I'm going to a mobile detail. But I mainly bought it because I had a Nissan Altima that just wasn't going to cut it for all the work I had to do on my house.

That's the great thing about America I can go to a dealer and purchase whatever kind of vehicle I want and if it po's some treehuggers oh well. They can feel free to go buy a prius if that's what they want, freedom is a beautiful thing.:dblthumb2:

relax a bit. I used to salt/sand parking lots for a company. I always did my best to keep it off the cars, but still cover as much of the lot as I could. Guy was just doing his job, and I highly doubt there is any damage to your vehicle. Don't you have more important things to be worried about this time of yr than this?

How does MA feel about capital punishment?

I'll push the button, pull the lever, pull the trigger, flip the switch.......what ever your flavor......

OH yea, I feel pretty good about it....:props:

PS.... I'll also watch.....

Ziv you may have been a very conscientous spreader but that doesn't mean everyone is. I would call what happened a blantant act to mar his truck. Anybody with a pulse could see the truck and knowing what they are getting ready to spread could damage the truck but he/she did it anyway. Plus the fact that if the paint is damaged that means time lost taking the truck to get fixed and still getting to work when his daily driver is in the shop. There is plenty to get worked up over and I hope there was no damage to the truck. The person running the spreader should have been more cautious.

The guy backed right up to my truck, there was no need to do that considering those sanders throw sand about 6-10 feet. I realize he was doing his job, but maybe he should respect other peoples property?

Also, I spent 3 days polishing out my truck in Sept and to have some jerk just throw rock salt over it pissed me off. Trust me I have tons more to worry about than this, but it was something that I could come to the detailing forum and talk about with people that actually understand it. So excuse me for ranting about some one throwing rock salt on my paint!

I'm right there with you! I'll bring the popcorn!

Thanks Scott! I don't think there is going to be a ton of damage (I'm hoping), so hopefully it's just something that can be polished out. I'm hoping for some warmer weather the next couple weekends so I can get it washed and check it out.

no offense, but does this guy care you spent 3 days polishing your truck? for all he knows, you are the guy that will sue him/his company/the business for a slip and fall accident in the parking lot because it wasn't salted.

Nobody goes to work and say "let's see how many cars/trucks I can f^ck up today with my salter"

I say get over it, sh!t happens..... if there is 'damage' I am sure it is beyond minimal (can be buffed out), it was unintentional and will just give you an excuse to play around with your truck again..

in the end, it's just a chevy

In the end yes it's a Chevy and I don't think there is anything wrong with that. No need for the blatant digs!

Either way, I was just coming here to rant about it cause it pissed me off. Sorry that you can't see that. So, if you don't think my complaint is relevant you can just not post!

I get it you think that I should get over it. Well, fine..let the people that understand or would be upset too respond and you can go about your day. I don't need/want the thread getting shut down because we see things differently.

So, this thread is completely off topic now!:nomore:

I see ziv is trying really hard to make friends. Well ziv how about he sues the company over damaged paint? Once salt gets inside the clear it's all over no matter how hard you try to prevent it so there's going to be money coming out of his pocket to repair his own truck that he didn't damage in the first place. I would say it was intentional because like SeaJay said there were no other cars around his truck plus the fact that whether it's a Ford,Chevy, etc it's obvious that SeaJay busts his butt taking care of his truck. You may drive a beater but some of us take great pride in keeping our vehicles as clean as possible next time take that into consideration.

go ahead and show me the damage before you get all worked up about it.... that is my point. That, and you would be hard fought to prove intent. If there is damage, go ahead and report it. I had a lawn crew damage a vehicle of mine a couple yrs back. One phone call and it was taken care of, no b!tching about it on a forum, no raised blood pressure and I drive nicer vehicles than the OP is talking about here.

in the end, it's just a car, they can be fixed. with the holiday season, worry about spending time with your family, not b!tching about a few pieces of sand hitting your truck, that likely didn't do a bit of damage... and if so, nothing worse than you would get driving down the freeway.

And for the record, I have enough friends in real life, whether or not I make friends here matters little to me

Some people just like to be conflictive, and those do not aport nothing to the forum... ( Or communities for that matter ). I just did a quick overview over all of his post on this forum... Not much there...

And hey, I would drive a Chevy any day before a Mitsubishi...

Enough already guys. Seriously. This is just getting more and more out of hand.

Just because your part of a forum doesn't mean you don't have friends. It's a place to share tips, experiences, and to learn from others. I was simply sharing an unfortunate event. That's that. So, let it go and the thread will die and we don't need to talk about it anymore.

Everyone have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

yeh, my POS 500 whp mitsu... who would want to drive that?... or maybe my POS 550+ hp 350Z, or my 08 tundra pickup, or my honda minivan.

get real, it's a chevy truck, nothing special about it.

edit:
I wasn't trying to be "conflictive" (better let Webster know about the new word), but the OP is getting all worked up at a guy just doing his job. Bigger things in life to worry about. I am all for sharing tips and techniques, but my experience with detailing is limited. I have plenty of knowledge on making power.... IMHO power > detailing. My cars make good power, thought I might try to clean them up a bit

Good point Romeo I guess some people that talk about other things being more important are just trying to stir the pot so they can feel better about themselves. Oh well it takes all kinds I guess. SeaJay I hope the truck is ok and make sure,if you can, to get the number of the company in case there is damage.
Does mitsush*tzi still make vehicles??

I smell rice burning.

Have a great Christmas and New Year everyone, yes even you ziv.
