I could write an 18 paragraph response to this, but I refuse

You "really" want the best get a Fein. Be prepared to drop a grand though.

b) Flex has a new rotary out. I think its around $500. Its very new and not alot of reviews of its preformance for me to recommend at this time, but it seems very nice

c) Makita 9227c is tried and true. You can pickup one of these for around $250. This is what I use

Dewalt makes a good unit to, but a little heavier then the Makita

Good luck in your decision and Merry Christ X

Look around for a used Makita, Other than sheer abuse they are tough to wear out. I found mine for $100.00 used.

If not, shop around, sub $200.00 sale prices can usually be found

Dont forget to get a Dynabrade attatchment for the Rotary, its like an orbital on steroids, awesome

Can't go wrong with the Makita or Flex.

:iagree: This is about all you need to know.

I have Makita's 9227 and couldn't be more satisfied.

Undeniably, Flex makes superb machines. I have Flex's 3401 DA polisher it works as well it's built.

I have no complaints with either of them, not a one...........

I would love the new flex but I dont want to spend the 5 c-notes to get it.

I have an old Milwaukee that is still going strong and runs like a champ.

And I also have a Hitachi buffer that performs very well. It looks identical to the Makita. It runs nice but the Makita runs just a little smoother. All in all for the $140 I spent for it brand new I can live with a rougher startup.

Thank you all for your help! I might should have mentioned that the two DA I own are the Portacable and the Flex 3401. I am now wondering do I even need to add a rotary? I am not a professional detailer (YET) but I am addicted to transformers!! ( transforming finishes that is!) :xyxthumbs:

Price an issue?
I agree on all the previous posts, almost to the letter. Fein is #1, the Rolls Royce of Tools.
So Flex would be the Bentley.
Makita would be the Ford F-150
But if you will not be using it very much and really want to save money on the purchase.
Get the Trabant or Fiat 124 of polishers.
The Harbor Freight polisher, only $34.99 and it comes with a lifetime warranty. When it dies it's life is over.

7" Variable Speed Polisher/Sander
