Okay, I just wanted to get everyone's opinions. Saying that you have a finish that is free of flaws and you are getting ready to do your regular waxing. What do you personally do to prep your paint for wax? Do you use IPA, mineral spirits, or a cleaner such as Pinnacle's Paintwork Lotion. Thought it would be interesting to see what everyone uses. :props:

A cleaner is the way to go IMO! I like P21s and Pinnacles!

Dodo juice lime prime is awesome if you're using a machine. By hand I like poorboys black hole glaze.

Washing then inspecting the paint to determine if claying is required.

If the paints been neglected and soiled then a good cleaner will suffice.

If the finish is kept up religiously then wax on wax off....

So you don't remove the old wax yourself?

Basically though, these are good rules to go by. :xyxthumbs: You don't ALWAYS need to have a step before waxing.

I suppose that is correct. I'm wanting to find something to use every time before I wax. I'm thinking of IPA since it's cheap.

I love CG EZ Creme and AG SRP as they kill two birds with one stone being they have light cleaners in them and are glazes that amp up the paint work.

Depends...

Soap and water (Or ONR)

--- Spray Wax Renewal Decision Point 1

Clay if needed

Hand glaze?

--- LSP Decision Point 2 (if paint is in great shape and clay not needed)

Prewax cleaner if paint needs cleaning but not polishing

Maybe a hand glaze (none with sealant)

--- LSP Decision Point 3

Compound to remove defects

Current use IPA to check defect removal but thinking Mineral Spirits

Polish to gloss

Maybe a hand glaze (none with a sealant) or a finish polish

Just got a sample of Pinnacle Paint Lotion to try before the LSP and after polish

--- LSP Decision Point 4

Alan, I haven't tried the EZ Creme. OK under a sealant?

Have you tried CG's new GlossWerkz glaze? It's supposed to be good under wax or sealants. I have it on the hood of my wife's BMW with WGDGPS sealant over the top, and after polishing with OPT Hyper Spray Polish. So far so good after two weeks with lots of rain here.

If the paint is perfect I use p21s and it works great. On dark colors or cars with very light marring I use prima amigo. Its my fave pre wax cleaner/glaze and is super easy to use!

It is perfectly fine under sealants. CG EZ creme is an acrylic based sealant so it is a perfect base for either a sealant or wax. The same for AG as it is a AIO sealant with lots of fillers. I haven't had the opportunity to try the new Glossworkz. In fact, I didn't even know it was available already. Where did you pick it up?

CG seems to have some great products I have just yet to buy any

*correction* EZ Creme is an acrylic based glaze "not" a sealant.

I have a new favorite combo of CG EZ Creme Glaze, followed by BFWD, then topped with AG HD. Love it. 70%IPA diluted 3:1 with water before hand to see if I need any correction.

I want something with "polishing oils", e.g. Menzerna or Meg's Mirror Glaze finishing polishes before applying a carnuba

For sealants I use an AIO type product, e.g. KAIO or OPS as a base

After trying a bunch of pre-wax cleaners, Prima Amigo is a winner in my book :buffing:

For me, P21S or if I don't mind a little sealant thrown in Klasse AIO. Neither have any significant correction/abrasives.
