What's your pre-wax preferance?

Just started getting into the whole paintwork cleanser thing. I have WG PPE, and just got Pinnacle PCL on BOGO - looking forward to trying it out. :xyxthumbs:

I do a cleanup with IPA followed by EZ creme glaze and then LSP

If the paint has some minor defects, then XMT360 or sometimes, DC paint cleaner.

Prior to waxing (after I've done my claying and any polishing) I'll do an IPA wipe down. It works well at removing any remaining oils on the paint and like you said it's cheap! I've used a couple paint cleaners and they all work well, but I just find that for the price and ease of use the IPA is the best. You should check out Mike Phillips article that he posted yesterday Miscible and Immiscible - Wax and Paint Sealant Bonding (sorry I haven't figured out how to post the actual link yet). Gives some good info on prepping paint.

For an alternative to IPA wipedowns, Griot's makes a pre-wax spray cleaner that is citrus based or consider paint safe (if not left to dry) Optimum Power Clean at 3:1.

After polishing step and ipa check in a few places I prefer a paint cleaner of the type that's most compatible with the sealant I am using. I have a few and just use the one I imagine is best suited with that sealant. If going straight to wax there's an app errr a paint cleaner for that too.

Thanks for posting that seajay, it had a lot of good info. Now I'm kinda confused on what to do lol. I think I'll do ipa wipedowns followed by p21s paint cleaner.

HAHA, that happens a lot. I think it a lot of stuff comes down to personal preference. Find something that works for you!

Yea I just like knowing what's best to do. Think ipa and p21s is good?

That's a good combo I think. I've personally never tried the P21s but have heard nothing but good things about it.

Yea and it's relatively well priced. I have a list of things to buy including p21s, menzerna polish, megs glaze, 6" backing plate and a few others. Total of like 200 I believe. I already have around $700 worth. Help me control this addiction! :D

I think since I've joined AG (back in Aug 2010) I've probably spent well over $1,500 on supplies and equipment. It's definitely addicting and the list of products I want never ends!

A statement that holds more truth then this, has never been spoken.

Amen to that man lol. My list I have now is more need than want though haha

Well at least you "need" stuff. I have so much stuff right now that I could probably go a year without purchasing anything other than maybe some APCs...but there is just so much I want that I can't stop buying! My UPS guy must think I'm nuts because for awhile there I think I had a package showing up every other day.

I don't really have any needs right now, other then some APC and glass cleaner. However, my WANTS list is longer then the "Song that Never Ends".

Well I don't really need liquid souveran but it'd be nice to have :D On the other hand I do need some polish, 6 inch backing plate, some bonnets, and paint cleaner.
