Your very first "Wow" wax

My first wow wax was back in 1964 when I worked for a Pontiac dealer. A guy comes in selling a jelly type wax that he was making in his basement . We tried it on a black 1960 Pontiac, and I never seen a wax bring out such high gloss and depth. It filled all the scratches and made the black paint look like a new coat of paint. The guy called it Slax Super X. We bought 5 lbs of the wax The guy that made it died, and I never seen any more of his wax again.

They still make it!
 
mine was in the early eighties and was dura gloss. First you could put in the sun and wipe right off. jonathan

Though i only do my own vehicles i was wowed by 845 IW as well and that was after trying several of the higher end waxes.:xyxthumbs:
 
anyone use simoniz in the metel can from years ago. ? cakepaste wax.

Sure did, in fact I just used the last of it on my snowplow......:laughing:

In it's time it was considered one of the best but things have changed a wee bit since then.
 
I also used Simonize wax . I use to put it on my dads 1946 Dodge all the time. It was hard to use , but not as hard as some people think if you put it on small areas at a time . It was a wowo product.
 
First wax that wowed me was NXT2.0 when I used it on my new car!!

It wowed my neighbors and dealership guys as well!!:props:

My first "WOW" wax was from 1971. I had rebuilt a totalled '67 Malibu, and changed the color to a then-new GM Metallic Copper. The painter, my uncle, didn't trust me with a rotary, so he showed me how to sand and compound the entire car by hand. What a chore! I visited my local paint store for advice on the best finishing products. They recommended Meguiar (not Meguiar's) "Competition Finish Conditioner" and Classic Slipstream Wax. Stuff cost me 10 bucks-half a day's pay at the time, but the finish was just outstanding. Classic was the the best wax I had ever used at the time. It was a super-hard paste, solvent-based, so it removed little tar spots and the like and you could actually do a wax job in the rain. About ten years later I heard the company had gone belly-up, so I hit the local stores and bought up all I could afford. Still have about half a can left.
As it is with women, better choices may come along, but you never forget your first.

Mine was Rain Dance in High School, Zymol Cleaner Wax in college and NXT after college. NXT was the first wax I used that seemed to make the paint look different the next day. Still use NXT 2.0.
 
Ohio, I think Springboro is relatively close to me about an hour maybe? I am in NKY.

An hour is close for me, I drive a hour to get anywhere.....
 
After using Turtle wax hard shell for about a year and trying the (awful) TW Ice, I got some TW Platinum Series paste wax. That was the first wow product for me.

I wasn't wowed again untill I used P21s 100%.
 
Poor boys had a product years ago that you can apply and remove so easy and was able to fill any swirls or imperfection you had.Due to voc laws hey had to reformulate not the same anymore.Tops all products had a product called clear buff ,it was a cleaner wax with a deep glossy shine.
 
It's been a while, but I would have to say it was the first 'actual' Carnuaba wax (I don't remember the name some 30+ years later), but currently ssince I have discovered paint correction BEFORE waxing, I think Collinite Insulator is my WOW wax because of the shine and durability.


The next time I wax my car I will try using the 476s to see if it 'WOWs' me too.
