12 washes with ONR (heavy pic's)

The color of your vehicle isn't really prone to exposing scratches very well. I'd like to see 12 ONR washes on a brand new black vehicle. I guarantee there would be scratches.

Your color is just easily maintained, just like silver. I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just saying as a shop owner running a detail business...this process would absolutely not fly regardless of the outcome of your test.

ONR is a risky product to clean a vehicle that has heavy dirt and grime. The reasons for this are obvious. Regardless of the lubricity of a product...you are still dragging, and swirling that dirt and grime around. Take a swirl light to your paint, and look real close...there's scratches, guaranteed. Luckily, the color of your vehicle is very friendly. Black, is not so forgiving. That's just my two cents.:bolt:

Hey I understand, everyone has their opinion BUT the test I did was for me and my vehicle.I wanted to share my outcome/experience.:)

You did give me an idea thou,I have a 2001' Black TransAm WS6 (9000 miles) that has pretty pristine paint.I'll play with ONR with it come spring.
I'll put the TA to the ONR wash several times and monitor the paint.
It is a summer/dragstrip vehicle so it won't get dirty and salt ridden like my DD in the winter.
Needless to say but I'll have no problem doing so.And if the ONR does cause some marr/scratching,then it will just have to be polished. To me it's not a bad thing because I do love detailing ;).

Cool, I would be very interested in that! Just don't scratch your car, ha. :dblthumb2:

I wouldn't use onr for a car that dirty but I appreciate the time you spent on documenting and posting this. Personally I have to agree it is my opinion that onr wouldn't completely protect against dirt like that. In the sun on dark finishes I am sure you would find a lot of very fine scratches. Have you looked real close in the sun yet?

People need to start realizing ONR is not a miracle product.

I did NOT wash off the salt and dirt with just the ONR.I mentioned in the OP,I took it to the car wash and sprayed it down first.Yes,up until the 12th wash the finish was un marr-scratched.

Woa,wait a minute.I never mentioned ONR is a miracle anything.
I thought PART of this forum is for detailers to share info and technique's.

I'm done trying to defend myself for just posting a few pictures showing the experience MYSELF had with a product that for ME,worked well.

Not sure where you got the "Miricle Product" from?

Security!?

Kidding...there's no security, ha. I'm pretty sure he was just making a general statement towards the general population who think ONR is a "miracle product". He's not taking a stab at you. You can breathe now, lol.

Not sure where you got the "Miracle Product" from?

common sentiment from him.

search posts by "Grizzly" and term "optimum"

you'll see more of the same. things like "second coming", "overrated", etc.

guess optimum just doesn't do it for him. seems to have worked great for me for the past several years so i can't relate.

Any keyboard detailer can spout off an opinion about a product they have never used and you can believe it's usually wrong. Watch closely for the "I'd like to see..." and "...I'd be interested in that" remarks. Those are sure signs that they can't conceptualize polymer functionality and won't ever try the technology because that's not whut ma daddy used. It is a shame that those who are not interested in a product and have never used it continue to ruin the intent of a thread and completely derail it.

Chris, excellent job and thanks for sharing. Trying to detail, snap pics and load them up to share takes time and I for one appreciate you. Pretty sure the car wash rinse took care of the stuff someone mentioned but I can't ragg him for not reading the whole write up because I missed that you used the OptiMitt.

I'm the one that said "interested in" and "I'd like to see" comments. So clearly you're speaking to me, and at the same time...calling me a "keyboard detailer".

First of all, I'm FAR from a keyboard detailer. I own a busy, successful shop in New Hampshire. Secondly, I happen to own ONR...so how am I not willing to try it? I use it everyday. Third, my daddy never detailed cars.

But, thanks for the inadvertent diss. Had you asked ME any of these questions before you made a snap judgement...I could have informed you.

He's right though...I'm probably wrong. Someone who makes snap judgments on people, and resorts to name calling is clearly the person you should be taking advice from. :applause:

P.S. YOU just derailed this thread, not me.

I did read your whole post and I do love ONR and like I said really appreciate all your effort. I know as well as anyone the effort it takes. In your post you said that when it's too salty etc you pre wash it. It was a misunderstanding as I don't know what your definition of too salty/dirty is...

I too question what a black car would look like after 12 ONR washes. I use ONR of my fiance's vehicle, but it hides imperfections very well, and I'm not worried about what it looks like in the winter. I have a black Nissan with soft paint and I won't touch it with ONR unless it's just to clean it up after sitting for a few days.

All that said though, I'm glad the OP got the results he did. However before I'm completely convinced, not that anyone should give 2 craps what I think, I would want to see full sun shot of the paint to capture any imperfections.

:grouphug: needed here!

Agreed, although the pics are deceiving to those who skip/skim the text and go straight to the pics and think "You washed THAT surface with just ONR??" "OMG! ONR is... blah blah". For the record, Impressive, between say pic 1 and pic 2 the car was pressure rinsed then ONR washed??

ONR/DP RW&G are excellent products, thanks for posting Impressive. I am definitely looking forward to the Black TransAm test

Great show and tell! I like the before and after shots one after the other, it makes it allot easier to see.

I've been using DP Rinseless Wash & Gloss and just started using Optimum No Rinse. I'd like to do a side by side comparison to see which one, if there is one, performs better.

Thanks for the posting! :props:

I use ONR in the winter time because I can't use a regular wash. I hook up my pressure washer to my utility sink in my house and spray off the car/truck first to get all the grime off. I then use a 2 bucket system with the ONR and change out my rinse water and ONR bucket about half way through.

Nice write up and pics of your ONR wash. I have been using it since it came out and prefer it over a hose. Having had a black suv dd for many years,I did not find it to mar any more than with a normal wash. you have to use good technique. with the road salt taking it to a local pressure washer is a good idea to get the big stuff off first. I detail outside as I do not have a garage and wash in full sun , so I will see any little marring that might occur. lets all remember Mikes saying , " use what you like and use it often " that is my 2 cents, feel free to keep the change LOL !

:iagree: I'm guessing that one of the reasons people do not do this regularly is they want more of a "TA DA" moment when unveiling the After pics.

I've never tried ONR (I'm a noob to all of this...) but it looks to be a great product and your write-up & pics have helped educate me.

Thanks for the post :props:
