Ford GT returns as hybrid!

Unfathomable but cool at the same time...

My client has an origional GT 40 and an '06 GT. I think he will want this one as well when they are available. I already know he will hate the back end of the new GT. If Ford would not have done that back end on a Daytona Shelby, he would have bought one. The company still has 5 more of those Daytonas that they will build for Shelby.
 
This is a worse idea then showing up to a party in sweat pants sportin a boner
 
Don't really see what is wrong with it having a little hybrid power, looks like it is still pushing 600 ponies.

Nothing really wrong with having hybrid, but you are re-creating an icon... somethings you just don't mess with... Can you imagine how Mustang die hards would have reacted if their beloved 5.0 came back out with a hybrid drive attached to it??? They would've been pissed!!!!! I'm just sayin....

as long as the hp is there who cares how its powered!!!! If Ford needs a unbiased opinion I have a very HEAVY right foot and would be glad to give them my $.04 ( inflation you know) :dblthumb2:

Well, since we have all non American car makers making hybrid racing vehicles, Ford is being smart and will go after them. :hotrod2:
 
That rear end looks pretty awful, imo. However, if they can incorporate some "green" tech & maintain good performance that will run w/ the competition I say go for it. :dblthumb2:

Hmm. As much as I hate the idea of an icon like that being recreated as a hybrid, take a look at this. Hybrids aren't as slow as you think they are.

:iagree: I wonder what Carroll Shelby has to say about it. I'm not a Ford guy, but it rather hear a GT rumble down the street than buzzing through the parking lot....

The Ford GT40 is a true legend. To honor this legend and to keep it pure, under the hood MUST be a Ford powered, fire breathing 8 cylinder gasoline high output engine, no exceptions.

This includes looks, smells, sounds, feels etc.

Turning a Ford GT into a tree hugging Hybrid is like forcing an NFL offensive line to wear ballerina outfits instead of their uniforms.

Personally, I would choose a superior performing car over a superior sounding car any day. Additionally, if I don't have to get shafted as much by the oil industry along the way, so much the better.

As far as NFL offensive linemen wearing ballerina outfits, I'm sure they would consider it if said outfit would actually give them a decided advantage against their opponents.
Who knows. Maybe the outfits looked so ridiculous that the defense couldn't stop laughing to get at the quarterback, thereby enabling the QB ample time to throw touchdown passes at will.

Little off topic but on that note Lynn Swann took ballet, helped him with body control, and explains how he made some of those acrobatic midair catches

You would be correct in saying that....but not the brute force that an offensive lineman uses day in and day out to control the trenches and push around other rabid silverback gorillas... The game is won and lost on the front lines, but they never get recognition because people only want to see the "pretty" part of the game... makes me sick....

That being said, I don't think anyone is against us going hybrid and green... and I am not at all saying that it won't be fast or an incredible vehicle...I'm just saying why would you even think to change an american icon... it's like making MLB use aluminum bats because all the college kids are before they get signed... it doesn't make sense
