The AutoLavish Customer Service Norm - 2008 Mercedes Benz ML350

I always love your all's threads. You do great work and they are always a favorite to look at. Btw, what kind of vacuum did you all use? It looked nice with the hose and attachments.

that hose is the upgraded hose for Ridgid vacs (it is like $40 extra which I think is ridiculous ). You can get the micro attachments and brush attachments atmultiple places but everything costs extra unfortunately.

WOW! This is much more response than I expected! Thank you all for such kind and inspiring words :dblthumb2: We are glad you like the articles and find them instructional! It is easy to get lost in the common jargon and skim over stuff while we write, but we usually try to have some new info well explained on each thread. Questions are always welcome as well! Both Marc and I started and continue learning from other forum members, some still here and always inspiring, others gone but never forgotten. It is a good way to pay it forward IMO, a bit at a time :props:

Nice work...Is your garage heated?

Sort of. Attached, and the house has a glass South wall which heats up very well during the daytime even in winter (the 5 sunny days we do get in MI winter), and we have a small space heater than helps if needed. The garage door was insulated for a small period of time, but now awaits a new method of insulation. It got too cold too quick for me to get it done this season. If the outside temp is below 5 or so it gets uncomfortable inside the garage.

Excellent work! Love the writeup. Very thorough and well executed.

Where can I get that Iron-X?

From a competitor, so we won't say. But there is only a few ways to get it, which makes an easy search ;)

Awesome work as always, guys!

Does the PDR guy you use give you a discount since you're bringing him business through your customers? I used to use a guy who did that, but he left the state and the guy I'm using now doesn't give me as good of a deal. Curious to hear if you guys have experienced similar.

Josh gives us his dealer rate. Dealers will usually premium the work and make a cut. We don't. This way the client gets an advantage for using us for their detailing, we simply facilitate. I prefer to add to customer's satisfaction than adding $50 to my pocket, even if I will probably never see the vehicle again.

Thanks! The vacuum is nothing special. A wall-mounted portable from Sears, waited until it was on special. Marc's GF bought him the hose and attachment set for his birthday a few years ago...

... yep, this. The hose is really nice, though, more flexible and more compact than the hose the vac came with, which makes it great for mobile set-ups. The attachments are another $30 or so, also part of Marc's gift. They have broken a few times. Last ones I got at Home Depot. They are worth the price if you have heavy seats or do not want to have to remove the seats to get to those last little crumbs between the seat and the center console...

Nice thorough job. :xyxthumbs:

Do you have to crawl out of the window once inside the trailer? I have always wondered how they get out of the vehicle once it is inside the transporter.

Thank you! Yes, the truck driver had a super thick, clean towel he uses for this. It covered the door inside and out. I climbed out into the trailer's frame, basically. Quite easy, actually. The truck driver was twice my size, so I wonder how he usually does it.

Top notch work as always Jacob! I think you guys always have some of the most informative write up's......which definitely helps out other forum members! :dblthumb2:

Who's the new guy? Did he have to go through an initiation? :D

Chad, you are one of those who keep us on our toes! Thanks for the love. The new guy is Tim. We are waiting to initiate him until we can get the paperwork done, but Tim is quite the veteran detailer for his young age, and will definitely be a great addition to AutoLavish. We also have a few others to introduce as well, but all at it proper time :Im the MAN:

wow, all that in 12 hours. Amazing!

makes me want to go get some iron x right away even though my car is black (just cuz I can't see it doesn't mean it's not there...)

12 hours is pretty quick! A cleaner vehicle definitely helped. But the 3rd person is what made the difference. Tim was able to help us out half of the first day and for the final of the second day. The vehicle took a lot of tape, and some careful maneuvering around it in the tight garage. Marc and I thought that for us 2 it would have been more like 15 hours.

Thanks to all once more!

Marc, I've done a few of those and I've noticed the running boards on the drivers side usually are pretty oxidized and even have a little bit of rust. Any suggestions?

Have you noticed that there is a lot of rail dust on the rear end of those cars too?

Tim

I noticed that you were power washing inside your garage? Do you have some type of drain in the center of your garage or something? That would be so cool to be able to do that throughout the winter. Very nice work btw!
