When you do a Waterless, how much product do you use?

I use UWW+ the most. I use the ZEP Spray Bottle. It is a high output spray. For the Ford, I use 12 to 16 oz per wash. I spray heavy except for glass. I want plenty of lubrication, so I spray liberally. With the new concentrates, I can afford to. I use about 8 oz on the XLR. Are you using as much to do a full wash? TIA. I use same amount of Optimum or DP as I do UWW+. TIA!

I only use PB's spray and wipe as a drying aid after I wash and leaf blow the car. I never use WW's as a "car wash".

Dang, you are hard core Mark! I love it and No Rinse too. Not had any issues.

If I'm using ONR I typically use a 2 bucket method. I've yet to try it out just using a spray bottle. If I did though I'd definitely be using more product in the sprayer. Right now for my 2 bucket wash I usually use right around 3 oz.

I'm not saying WW's and no rinses are not effective, but I drive my car everyday and it's gets too dirty for me to feel confident in a WW or no rinse.

Hey Jim,

I tried DP Waterless Auto Wash this winter and like you used about 16 ounces to do my truck. I sprayed mine liberally as I really wanted to soak my trucks exterior in order to soften and dissolve as much as possible prior to wiping.

DP Waterless Auto Wash seemed to do a decent job but I just don't like wiping, no matter how carefully, particles of dirt across the finish. I'd much rather have them float off similar to a rinseless wash as a minimum.

So I can say I did try it and it worked OK but the rinseless wash is my limit on substituting something for a regular wash...

Bobby, I agree. I wont wipe dirt on my paint. In what we southerners call winter, I will go thru a very nice new touchless wash and go home, garage it, turn the heater on and go back in an hour or two. Usually do an ONR wash in winter.

If I have any concerns with dirt, I will hose off or do 2 buckets. I have water so UWW+ or ONR are options when I want. I will not go to town on a dirty dry car. Mark, what do you do when water is restricted?

You dont want to try that. Opti Clean is their waterless. It has new polymers that ONR doesnt. It is a great product.

Using Ultima or Optimum I'm using at least 20 ozs. and it's only a G35 coupe. 16 ozs for a truck seems a little light to me. Dunno maybe I'm using too much, but I feel in this case more is better.

I always seem to use more waterless wash than the manufacturers say is necessary. Last week, I used Ultima WW. Used slightly over 20 ozs. with excellent results. (Also had to use quite a few MF towels). I agree with Rsurfer: "in this case more is better".

Don't remember how many ounces are in the 5 year warranty sprayers I bought from AG - but I use a full bottle for about 4 cars...... unless it is heavily soiled with salt - then I double down or even triple down the amount per vehicle for safety of marring..... using this method I've never had an issue and the cars come out great! :dblthumb2:

The DP bottles are 32 oz.

Do you guys clean your wheels/wells with the waterless also?

I use DP waterless and it does a great job if they car isn't spoiled with dirt. Bring out the shine and leaves a very slick feeling.

I like to make sure that the panel is covered with the waterless wash. I spray the panel until I see the wash start to run a little and then I consider it sufficiently saturated.

Also, before you go wiping the finish, give the towel a few sprays so that it scratching is further reduced. Some people complain about the towel clinging when they rub it over the paint. I have found that if you wet the surface and the towel the clinging disappears and you can wipe in nice smooth, straight lines with no fears or problems.

I will use a degreaser on tires - and wheel wells..... depending on the job, I will dress the wheel wells as well.

It depends. If I am doing a waterless wash then I break out the APC, spray the wells liberally and proceed to wipe. If the wells are painted then I use a combination of the APC and waterlesss wash by spraying the APC, letting it dwell and then spraying the waterless wash to add some extra lubrication. Works great.

I also clean the wheels with a combination of the waterless wash and an APC. They come out great. How do I get into the barrel of the wheel? I use a barrel brush with a terry towel wrapped around it, spray the barrel with APC and brush like you would regularly making sure to rotate the towel. It's really not that hard and doesn't add an exorbitant amount of time to the wash. In fact, you save time by using the waterless on the paint and then spend maybe a few minutes more on the barrels so you are about even with regards to time. But, I do not always clean the barrels of the wheels.

I use it on the front of my Sky after every drive to remove any bugs.

I can't give an exact amount as I have only used wateless wash to do a large portion of the vehicle a few times.

I do use a good deal on these rare occasions...

Currently my method is this: I spray 1 panel down with UWWP. Then I take my mf towel and drag very lightly with no pressure whatsoever in straight lines. After a drag or two I flip the towl to a fresh side and repeat till the panel is complete. This first step is intended to remove all of the very loose dust and contamination.

Next I spray the panel once again lightly this time. Then take a fresh towel or fresh side of a towel and start over on that same panel but this time I apply gentle pressure... just enough to get the remainder of the UWW residue off. This second step is intended to get any and all dust and contamination that wasn't picked up on the first pass.

Lastly I once again start over but this time with a dry towel. You might subsitute a dry towel for one with just a spray or two of UWW for lubrication if you have marr happy paint. This 3rd step is intended to remove any streaking or residue from the over application of waterless wash solution.
