Well its finally starting to warm up, which is great, but with it comes the pollen that I have recently seen starting to gather. I always use Collinite 845 during this season, since it seems that pollen is really tough on LSPs. It seems that the pollen is tough the 845 also, since 1 to 1.5 months is the most I can get out of it to where it seems that the protection is no longer there. Which LSPs do you all use dirung this season, and find that they hold up the best against this annoying dusty yellow nuisance?

Your best bet is using a dedicated sealant!

A carnauba wax will hold the pollen readily onto the surface, due to its structure.

I'm curious to know why you only get 1 to 1.5 months protection with 845 during pollen season while those who live in the snowbelt areas get 4-5 months with snow, road salt, etc. Is pollen that much stronger than snow and salt? I'm not doubting what you say, just curious.

My thoughts exactly!

I'm curious to see why your only getting 1-1.5 months as well. My truck has Power lock and then topped with collinite 845 for my winter prep (was done in Dec). And I just washed my truck a little over a week ago and it's still holding up well. And that's through the harsh winter we've had here in MA.

Perhaps it's your paint prep?

I'm guessing, paint prep along with increased temperatures + excessive sun exposure!? in the southern regions! = less durability if not maintained!

Powerlock, or another pure sealant, then a wipedown with FK425 which has anti static properties. I did a little test a long time ago where I coated a whole vehicle in powerlock and then only wiped down half of it with FK425. That side had less pollen than the powerlock only side. It wasn't perfectly clean, but there was less for sure....I'll see if I can dig up some pictures...

Have you ever used Reload? If yes how does it compare. If no, then I'll just take Richy's word for it. :D

I have never used Reload, so I would just take Richy's word. I bought a ton of products based just on his recommendations and never been anything less than blown away.

Well, 1 to 1.5 may be a bit of an exaggeration. It's probably still protected by that time, but the beading isn't a small and tight as initially applied. By that point I usually rewax anyways. 2 to 2.5 months is probably the most I'd trust the protection with it. I don't really get it either, since any other time of the year I can easily get 4 months solid protection with 845 doing the same prep as I always do. It just seems like every year between Februaury through May the pollen just kills LSPs around here. In the southeast the pollen can get thick, so maybe with the humidity in the air and the heat it reduces the LSP protection. I have no clue why, I'd really like to know to.

Using something like the FK425 sounds like the way to go since it's an anti static. I usually don't use final detailer or gloss enhancer after washes, but it sounds like it good way to keep the LSP protection going longer between waxes. Does the FK425 usually respond better with a carnuba or a syntthetic LSP, or does it even matter?
