Ok so I got the new MF system in but only the D300. I will be getting in the D301 soon but only had the compound at first. I was curious to see how it would work as a one step polish.

I used a GG DA on speed 4.5-5
Compressed air after each section

Ok so my thoughts on this system initially are that it works really well. It is very easy to use and you can get alot of correction out of it. In my pictures you will notice a few RIDS which I was not concerned about at all. I wasnt really getting paid to do a one step on the Yukon and on the Altima I was just using it as a test subject (Its my sisters car) D300 finishes down quite well but I can see how there is some haze left by it at times. I didnt follow D300 up this time but will soon to see the difference.

There was minimal dust and fairly long working times. The learning curve was all of maybe 4-5 sections and then I got the hang of it no problem.

It is early to be too gung ho on the system but it looks very very promising for me!

Any questions and comments are welcome!

Jon

i cant wait to get this system and try it out. i looking to use this for most of the cars i get and depending on how well D301 does as a AIO i will use either D300 or D301 for the one steps

I wonder what would happen if you used a rotary instead of a DA with this system.... Wait till I get mine in and we'll see!

Nice review, thanks for that. Its nice to see more comments and reviews popping up.

BTW Jon, based on your use of the pads, do you really think you will be able to get to do 20 cars off one pad like they say?

I am really liking D300 as a one step right now.

I read Megs say it just doesnt work on rotary but give it a shot who knows. Let me know your results. As far as durability I can easily see 15-20 or more cars out of the pads. And I used one pad for the whole Yukon.

Thank you Im sure more guys will be doing much more thorough reviews but I wanted to throw my .02 in there

Thanks for the review Jon. Do you have other pads/polishes available to finish down the D300? Have you tried this yet? I'm looking forward to trying this system out, hopefully next weekend. I plan to experiment a little with pads/polishes.

Sounds like you haven't read very many reviews so I'll sum it up for you, everyone that has tried it with a rotary including Meg's says it doesn't work. If you do decide to try this with a rotary, please provide us with a review of your experience. :xyxthumbs:

No problem Richard. I have several pads and products (Im a pad junky) to finish down with I just havent taken the time. I want to play around with it more and see what combo works best. I have the D301 coming in but I tend to like to put my own sealant on instead of using an AIO like D301 so I will be searching for the best combo.

I look forward to your findings. Keep me posted on what you find works best for you!

i read that the testers for this system was only given 1 of each size compound and polish pad and they used the same pad for like 3 months. so i am sure each of those pads seen atleast that many cars

Yeah, don't do this. Very fast cut, very high level of haze. We've said plenty of times that we're OK with people experimenting with products and processes, but that we'd also tell you when/if something is seriously not a good idea. This is one of those times - don't bother.

^^^^^^^^^ this was the answer given by an Admin over on MOL when someone asked about using these polishes with a rotary

Ok so I just did a test on a portion of a Black BMW. The compound removed almost everything in the paint but left some hazing. I followed that up with a quick treatment of 205/black pad and that cleaned it right up. It was really deep and black and swirl free.

I have used the D300 with Meguiars W5000 and it didn't work at all. I have used the 3 inch MF cutting pad to get into tight areas and had some success.

The system is formulated for the DA and works best with the DA. Late one night in the Meguiars garage I tested D300 on a 1500 grit sanded OEM Chrysler finish. I was able to pull out the sanding marks and bring the finish up to wax ready in less than half the time I could do it with a rotary and #105.

I just got the new system last week and found it to haze on black paint that mars easily, granted I am new to using it, but I followed it up with the finishing wax, which improved the hazing, but didn't remove it. Maybe I didn't work it long enough... I did a MS wipedown and saw the hazing.

I am currently working on a pearl colored Escalade which I will have some pics when I am finished, but I used the D300 with it as well and worked great, but I still found myself reaching for the rotary with a tangerine colored LC Hydro pad and 205 for large panels, (which this thing has a lot of) I was able to polish faster with the rotary. I did however use the 3" finishing MF pads with the D300 on the DA (the cutting pads are on backorder) and it worked great around the door handles, window frames and cut in areas.

To be fair, I need to use it more, but wondered it everyone else who is using it on black that scratches easily has the same results?

Thats a good observation Tom. I did that portion of the black BMW and it had soft clear. The compound had hazing left over from the compound but 205/black cleared that up. I dont have the finishing wax yet. I didnt order it at first but decided to go ahead and pick up the small bottle.

Thanks for the input!

Has anyone tried the finishing pad with the new ultimate polish which is supposed to have a lighter cut than 205 but has some filling. Any takers?
