Meg 105/205 then what?

So instead of 205 use PO85 or do you use PO85 over 205? Guess I better look this stuff up.
 
exactly PO85RD after 205, your gloss will deepin to another level...
 
I've used M105/M205/PO85 with great results.

Had a very interesting conversation with the Menzerna rep at Detail Fest.
He told me that PO106 has the exact same finishing powder in it as PO85.
He said it creates the exact same final glossy finish as PO85 except faster.

Oh, the things you learn at Detail Fest!
And the list goes on...

Meguiar's M105 and M205 are a great team. These two products combined with the appropriate pads and tackle most anything.

Meguiar's M105 is a compound thus tends to be aggressive. Meguiar's M205 is a polish and being much less aggressive finishes nicer and leaves a mirror finish.

Evaluate the panels condition and start off less aggressive and if the result warrants then switch to Meguiar's M105.

There is a basic order in which to proceed.

Basic steps in order are:

  • Wash
  • Clay
  • Paint Correction and Polish
  • Seal
  • Wax
While all of the steps are recommended they don't necessarily have to be checked off like a grocery list. Satisfaction can be as easy as a wash and simple wax but as you can see there "can" be allot more.

I'm aware of these general steps, however, in terms of using Megs 205, do I need to polish the entire car or only the ones with the light scratches and swirls?
 
Go over the car with 105 then go over the car with 205 then go over the car with PO85RD then go over the car with a Sealnant then go over the car with a wax if you like. Do you get it now? :)

My original plan was to do this after washing and claying:
1) Use #105 on sections where there are heavy scratches and paint transfer. The ones that are very visible.
2) Finish that section with #205.
3) Then use #205 on the rest of the car.
4) Use Megs #7 Show Car glaze for the entire car.
5) Wax with Collinite 845.

Shouldn't we clean the car/wipe down before we seal the car?

After each type of polish M105/M205/PO106 you should wipe the section with IPA (Some folks use mineral spirits). This removes residue polish. This also allows you to "check your work" before proceeding.
 
1. Wash Car
2. Clay Car
3. If you have IronX use that then rewash(?) or go right just washing car
4. remove swirls, start with the least aggressive compound in your arsenal then move on to more aggressive if the 1st one isn't working. IPA wipe downs to inspect your work as you go along
5. polish the car, IPA wipe down as you go along to inspect your work
6. rewash the car
7. Glaze or seal or wax the car

8. ???

10. enjoy your finished product
 
105/205/085RD/BFWD/Sig II. So I used it all. Silver is hard! Period.
