So our old crt in the family room is finally on its way out. We already have a 46' samsung in the other gaming/movie room.

So we really need the cheapest largest screen we can get. We dont want to lose any screen size. The crt is 27' diagonal with 16 vertical inchs. I measured the 32' flatscreen in my moms room and its about half and inch smaller vertically. So a 34' set would be perfect.

Any recommendations? Thinking of just going to walmart or frys to see what they have.

i bought a 36 inch sony 1080p. love it oh its an lcd. just make sure you go with a name brand and try to go with 1080p thats the best

How much did that cost? Trying to keep it cheap as possible but not so cheap it will be a turd. Its not going to be used for bluray watching or anything special. Just a second set.

Consumer Reports rates the LG's tops in the 32" catagory. I just purchased one and we love it. Much better sound quality than the Samsung we purchased. Make sure you have a HD signal available to ensure the picture.

Hook up is so simple now with HDMI cable system.

Visit your local pawn shop. They have tv's coming out tha yang

Yeah walmart and Frys are your best bet, there are not pawn shops out here so that is not an option I see but it may be for you. If your not desperate for it wait till the sales come out thru/fri at fry's and your golden.

Common sizes are 32, 42, 48, 52.
Vizio is a brand that gets decent reviews and is often inexpensive within a size class.

If Pawnshops, Frys, Costco aren't options might check Craigslist for people needing to unload something to pay rent.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I checked out frys and best buy. Frys had two 42' tvs in the 5-600 range which didnt look bad.

Best buy had a 60' sharp for 1200 which looks like a sick deal. But thats double what were looking to pay.

Im starting to wonder if it would be better to put our 46' in the room with the dead crt and then get a bigger tv for our gaming room. hmmmm. I just dont want to spend 2 grand on a tv. If I could find like a 50-55 inch version of what I have now Id buy it. Its two years old but I love the thing.

Look at the DLP tv's my 65in Mitsubishi rocks and you can get a 60inch 1080p nice new one for $800-900 and as long as your not needing a flat tv to mount on the wall your set with a awesome setup cheap.

I thought about dlp's in the past. At the time I didnt like the viewing angles. This was when we bought our 46. Could it be sat on a stand? We have a 3 layer tv stand that cost a pretty penny. So whatever tv we get it has to be able to fit on this thing.

Ive had my 40" 1080p Samsung for a few years now. Excellent quality. Sound cracks a little when very loud. Fixed that with a soundbar. I also use my TV as my monitor for my Mac mini.

my 65 sits on a stand I bought for a 52 and since they weigh less than the "thin" sets they can sit on everything. Its about the opening more than the stand with these sets as you don't have a 40inch tube like my back room tv that weighs in at 280lbs, looks awesome but a bi*%$# to move.

So trying to convince my mom that we should put the 46 inch samsung in the family room and then getting an even bigger one for the movie/game room didnt go to well.

So it looks like I will just be upgrading the crt. :(

I saw this one at frys. LG 42LK450 for $549 dollars. Seems like a good deal. Just cant find that many reviews on it.
