Ok basically this is what I have in my cart. I have no clue what the hey I am doing when it comes to paint correction and the like. I have been reading as much as I can and watching as many videos as I can and reading numerous product reviews. These are the items I have decided to purchase to start my new hobby. My significant other already purchased the PC7424 XP Light Swirl remover Kit for me last Christmas. I have yet to see it as I work over seas but am excited to get home to it and attemp to do paint correction on my first car. Hers first of course in case I screw anything up:D. Any feedback about pros and cons of any of the items listed below or a recommendation for a substitute that may be cheaper or better will be greatly appreciated. I have tried to select a product to complete a full detail from the interior/exterior to the engine. Its hard to believe this is almost $1000 dollars worth of stuff. I appreciate any feedback!!!!!!

I am going to be maintaining my black car so what are the best products for this color?

have you already bought all that?
No, not yet. It's sitting in my cart. I need to add a few more items! I am still looking for a good detailing product for my engine. Something that will give me a matte or satin finish and preferably in a 128oz. package.

I'm a cheap skate so I'm looking for ways to save money. Also, I'm no pro so don't take my advice as gospel. First, I would say ditch the Griot's 3" kit unless you are sure you really need it. I'd stick with orange, white, and black pads to start with. I don't think the blue are necessary. Get rid of the bonnet kit and just remove the wax by hand. Use ONR as a pad conditioner instead of the XMT. I don't think you need the Lime Prime with everything else.
You need a pad cleaner. I like the DP pad rejuvenator and/or XMT pad cleaner. You also need way more micro fiber (unless you are planning on getting them from another site).
I'll PM you with a few things I have to trade with you when you get back home.

I'm like TornadoRed, A cheap skate.

I'd also dump the Dodo Juice Prime Lime, not really needed.

Although I've never used either product (I do have a bottle of the Optimum just haven't used it yet), I'd dump the P21S Multisurface Finisher and get the Optimum Metal Polish, more then 2 times the product for the same cost. I read the P21S description page and it seems to be a bunch of marketing hype for a metal polish. I've seen a bunch of people using the Optimum product and they give it high marks. That is what prompted me to order a bottle last fall.

Not really sure if you need the Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion either. With the 105/205 combo, some clay and good wash/wax techniques after you shouldn't need it.

I suspect from the description of PPCL you might be able to substitute in Meguiars Paint Reconditioning Cream D151, It's basically the same cost as PPCL but you get a gallon instead. D151 is some good stuff, I've used it on a co-workers neglected 1996 Honda Accord and was just floored with what it could do.

I've got some 50/50 shots I can send to you if your interested in seeing what I mean.

Now for the items to add, LOL:

A gallon of FK-425 - very good QD spray
Finish Kare 425 Extra Slick Final Body Shine, finish care quick detailer, ultra slick detail spray

Poorboy’s Bug Squash- 32oz
Poorboy’s World Bug Squash 32 oz. Refill
I'd say get a gallon of this also but apparently AG only sells the 32oz bottle,
It's good stuff, I swear by it. I got a gallon of the stuff and when I finally use it up I'm going for the 5 gallon purchase I like it that much.

And another PB product I really like:

Poorboy’s Trim Restorer
Poorboy's Trim Restorer: Touching up the trim with Poorboy’s Trim Restorer provides the final polishing step in your quest for the perfect finish.

These of course are my own opinions, I'm sure others will chime in and give suggestions to you also.

Nice looking Mustang.

With all the money these guys are saving you, buy the Megs DA MF 5.5in starter kit. it is so easy to work with aand yields great results. It has rapidly become my go-to pads/polishes.

How often do you plan to wax? Waxes are just dressing for the correction job. A simple cheap wax with great results and easy workability is Megs #26 liquid. I am sure the soverougn is a pleasure to work with and will look great on your black paint. Worth it if you want to spend the money.

Meguiars #26 Hi-Tech Liquid Wax is a polymer liquid car wax that offers excellent paint protection and shine! Meguiars #26 High Tech Liquid Wax is.

I use the blue waxing pads. It only takes one per car though as you are only using minimal amt of wax.

I rarely use my Griots 3in polisher. I prefer 4 in pads on my old PC 73424. I just ordered the 3in DA MF pads. Obviously havent tried them yet.

What are you washing with? MF sponge, lambskin, boars hair brush? If it is there, I dont see it.

I'd recommend some XMT pad cleaner, a gallon of an APC of some sort, bottle of UTTG if you have trim or for the engine, and ditch the 3 inch pads

Meg's mf da system, opt power clean, opt metal polish, you would only need that 3" on 2 pillars on your car, so id just get an adapter/pads and uttg or 303 or carpro's perl for the engine dressing, waxes will be all over the place with ideas, also get other mf towels for the paint,

Here is what I would get.....

Lake Country 5 1/2 Inch Flat Pads 6 Pack - Your Choice!
Pad 1 : Orange
Pad 2 : Orange
Pad 3 : Orange
Pad 4 : Black

PRODUCTS TO DUMP

Detailer's Pro Series Wheel Glaze
-Just use whatever wax you use on your paint. No need, in my opinion, for a separate wheel wax.
P21S Multi-Surface Finish Restorer
-Go with Optimum Metal Polish instead
Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion
-Far too expensive in my book for a paint cleaner.
BLACK Mango Breeze Microfiber Towels12 Pack
-I have given my opinions about Cobra towels before. I think they are way overpriced. I use towels I bought off Amazon (Eurow) and I have yet to experience any kind of marring.
The Ultimate Guzzler Waffle Weave By Cobra 28 x 44 inches
-Way too expensive for me. I like Meguiars Water Magnet.
Bucket System
-You can buy your own buckets for way cheaper and work the same
Pad 4 : Blue
Pad 5 : Blue
Pad 6 : Blue
-
I would not get these and get more white polishing pads instead
Dual Action Microfiber Bonnet Kit
-Just remove your wax with a microfiber towel
Pinnacle XMT Polishing Pad Conditioner
-Just use Optimum No Rinse to prime the pad
Dodo Juice Lime Prime Pre-Wax Cleanser Polish 250 ml.
-Simply too expensive and not needed considering you have M205
Pinnacle Souveran Paste Wax
-Simply put, I would not spend $95 for a wax unless I was going to the Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance.
Optimum Spray Gun
-
Not really needed. Just apply the Opti-Bond with an applicator.
Griot's Garage 3 Inch Orbital Polisher Kit
Griot's Garage 3 Inch Mini Red Wax Pad
-
Not needed. Invest in 4" pads and a backing plate for the 4" pads.

I agree with Shawn T. recommendations. If that is your only car that you will be working on your spending way to much money. IMO save money and buy fewer things and try each product out and get another order in a few months time and you will know what you are missing. For wax I would recommend collnite 845 or 3m performance sealant.

ONR is a great choice, use apc inside the car and for cleaning wheels and engines. you can get megs apc+ or any apc in a store also. Optimum Opti-Bond Tire Gel has a nice mantle black shine, great for trim, tires, engine bays, leather and interiors(thought it smells a bit when added to leather)

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! My head is about to POP!! I'm not ignoring everyone, I am contemplating, adding and subtracting iems and comparing things still. I'll let you know my final results. I think I have taken in to account advice from all of you. Thanks for the input all.

I would consider buying the new Megs DA MF System for both your PC and 3" GG. Buy enough pads to do the car and tthrow them into the washing machine. I wish they had this system when I started. I am not a fan of DP Wheel Glaze. I prefer DG 501 over 601. Buy a gallon of ONR. Ultima Waterless Wash Plus Concentrate is a must too IMO.

Unfortunately the Meg's 5" DA MF system is on backorder and the 3" starter kit is not available yet through this site. I've been reading about that set-up as well and it seems like it's the new hot item right now. I've actually dumped the GG 3" buffer and added a LC 3.5 inch backing plate to use on the PC.

also consider getting some of your choices in smaller sizes in the event you dont like them, some of the stuff will be available on bogo-the microfiber and ww drying towels make it there periodically-i would get smaller sizes on your megs 105 and 205 to start with and peridically you could add something in later on
