I found back the pictures related to my very first detailing job last year around august.

the car is a 2004 toyota corolla owned by a buddy, work colleague, the paint was filthy upon arrival, i washed the car and the paint was kinda dusty, dead pigment layer on it it seems.

I had washed the interior a month prior to this, turned out pretty good i think (no pictures, never taught about that) the interior went from a dark brown coffee spillage color to a light tan and beige factory tint.

on to the before pictures: (taken at my home)

now the correction process 2 weeks later due to conflicting schedules. washed the car with autochem wash, love the stuff, it glides on the paint. then I had to shamefully use Varsol to dilute a layer of Tar and asphalt on the passenger side rocker that none of my bug and tar remover would touch. Rewash that section. Clay the whole car , it was a rail dust circus. broke out the rotary with 3M white eggshell pad and presta ultra cut creme, restored the white color, went back over it with a 3M black pad and presta swirl remover (what i had at the time) and finished with a coat of mother synthetic wax + rainX'ed windows. nothing was masked because of time shortage and request of friend. silverwax 33 on the tires.
the job was done at my gf home.

the corrected pictures were not taken by me.

tell me what you think.

nice job

were there any brown spots (iron) in the clearcoat? If so how hard were they to remove by claying alone?

the brown spots are commonly called "rail dust" they are iirc, partly brake dust particules which sticks to the paint and rust there since they are bare metal.

this particular car (and many other white toyota) sport's single stage paint and, yes they were there, it also took 2 hours claying alone with the local store blue clay (which strangely looks the same as clay magic blue but at 13$ a bar instead of 27$)

not hard to remove, just long and tedious.

This is your best friend:

Carpro Iron-X

It is a life (and time) saver. Completely worth the price, especially when working on light colored vehicles.

The RED clay magic will get those rust spots off also , works really well but you almost always will need to polish out the marring it creates too! (On white maybe not )

Congratulations on your first complete detail and for making that Toyota shine nicely! :props:

thank you guys, I ventured myself on a pretty neglected car for a first job. I now have a 2005 red (well as it stands now its pink) ralliart lancer to rejuvenate in the upcomming weeks. Just from showing this post to the owner :) pictures do the talking hehe

et puis je suis de blainville, dans le coins de mirabel, rive nord de MTL

Looks awesome. I've finally ordered my supplies from Autogeek, and was planning on cutting my teeth on my mom's decently wrecked white toyota echo. You're saying this will have single stage paint? Would you suggest any different methods than you would with 2 stage paints?

the yaris may have a single stage paint, but like every correction, start with the less agressive product and verify your progress

btw to check for SS paint, check for paint transfer, in the case of a white car, use a dark microfiber towel and some polish
