It's time for some new foam pads for my Griot's full size random orbital. I have used the Lake Country CCS pads and like them but the Cobra Cross Cut pads have a little better discount currently. I have not used the Cobra Cross Cuts nor have I heard anything about them......nothing at all, good or bad. The size of whatever I buy will be 6.5". Yeah I know, 5.5" work better and all that but I have my reasons. I'll get three orange and three white of one brand or the other.

Does anyone have any experience with the Cobras that they care to share? I would hate to save a few bucks only to find out I should have spent a little more. Are they both from Lake Country? Same foam but different design? You love 'em, you hate 'em? They work identically? I'm all ears folks.

Thanks

I have plenty of those along with many others. I am asking a question about a specific product. I need to hear from someone that has actually used it, obviously you have not. Thanks anyway.

I have 2 of the Blue Cobra CG pads. I have used them to apply my Prima Banana Gloss (Liquid Wax). It is my opinion that the grooves are a little to deep. It seems to use more product to apply than the CCS or Flat pads. When priming the pads with a polish I think it would take more than a CCS or Flat pad. IMO the foam of the CCG pads is close to the same the CCS at least on the blue pads I have used.

On a side note I have heard some good talk about ChemGuys hex logic pads and they look to be very similar to the Cobra CG pads.

Thank you Troy. That's the kind of information I'm looking for, much appreciated. By the way the Hex Logic are all 7.5".

Well, judging by the number of views (on two forums) and lack of responses I guess I have my answer and it's not Cobra!

I have a few and I'm not a huge fan. I find myself wasting more product and I feel all the groves actually act as a shock absorber not applying all of the da polishers energy to the paint. (if that makes any sense)

Hex-logic come in 4", 5.5", 6.5" & 7.5" The 7.5" are self centering

LC blue flat pads for LSP. Hydro-tech for the rest :).

Best,

Jose

I can't speak on terms of compounding/polishing but I used the red cross groove to apply paste wax. The only thing that I noticed was it left square imprints in the wax like the ccs pads leave round imprints. It was a soft foam like the red Lake Country. Other than the little squares all over it was ok. I may order a couple compound and polishing pads to try out on the Flex. I love the hydro tech pads and recommend trying those out sometime. Not sure if this helps?

Thanks to one and all. I think I'll pass on the savings and stick with Lake Country.

Thanks Emm. When I looked them up only the largest were shown. Obviously I didn't look hard enough, should have been more thorough.

Didn't say I haven't used them, because I have. Didn't like them. Tried the white and gray. You'll be happy with your decission not to get them.

I have tried the blue Cobra - don't care for it - falls apart too easily. Now I use it only as a base for my micro fiber bonnets.

No problem, I have them in 6.5" they are OK, but I tend to stick with Lake Country
