Which 7424 kit to buy from AG?

I am getting ready to purchase the PC 7424 from AG and was wondering what kit (combo) is the best one to buy or is the best bang for the buck? My plans for this spring is to totally upgrade my whole collection of detail supplies so I figure buying the 7424 with a combo of some sorts would be a good first step. Mike...
 
I just purchased the HK-7424 which includes a 5" backing plate, two orange, two white and two grey pads with two microfiber towels but I added yellow pads and a set of 4" orange and yellow pads with a 3 1/2" backing plate for specific areas.

My advice is to purchase a 7424XP and get a kit through Autogeek..I have ordered many products off them and every purchase was handled great....
 
I ordered the kit that had a 6" counterweight and backing pad...It also had 4-5 pads with the polisher.....Cost was $199.....Don't have the number of the kit..It does a great job
 
I'm also mulling over the kit choices and I think I'll likely pull the trigger on the one that has the XMT pad cleaner & conditioner along with the selection of Lake Country pads. The price is within range and there's nothing in the kit that I don't or can't use. I'll likely add on XMT 360 and maybe some Poorboy's EX P.
 
If I were buying a 7424, I would buy the intro kit. The Poorboy's kit is also a great choice. Or you could buy the Flex 3403 kit for just $289 before discounts and practice on an older car a few times. Good luck with whatever kit you choose. You can't really go wrong...:xyxthumbs:

Big jump from a 7424 to a 3403, wouldn't a 3401 be a better choice?
 
The Poorboys kit is a good choice and has a lot of good stuff with it. I am sure that once you use some Poorboys, you will be A Poorboys fan like so many on the forums. I prefer the PC over the Flex. Many more options for the PC-XP. I don't have have the XP model yet as my regular PC has not worn out yet. I am sure the Flex is a good machine but the limited options and dedicated backing plate disqualifies it for me. Good luck!

Good Point.:D The 3401 would absolutely be the best choice in my opinion, and I feel you know better than me the answer to your own question ;). I was trying to keep from sticker shocking him. A 3401 kit is much more expensive. I personally went with the 3401 and could not be happier. A friend of mine bought a 7424xp kit, and then called me complaining about the power compared to my machine. It's a machine your going to have for a long time. Why not spend $300 and have the best IMO. Then build your products around it. I will say that I also want a 7424xp as well though for the versatility, i.e. carpet brushes and small pads.

Before you buy the 7424XP look into the Griots DA, great reviews so far and more power. Interchangeable backing plates like the pc.
 
This is a pretty old thread and I now have upgraded from the 7424 to the XP version and also have the Flex 3401. But, thanks to everyone and their advice and I am sure will be helpful to future Porter cable and Flex owners.

:wow: I just looked at the original date :o. I was using meg's three step in those days with "great results" :laughing:. Congrats on your two great polishers now. Thanks also to rsurfer for the advice on the Griots polisher. Sounds like a good plan. And it's red so it will match the Flex.:dblthumb2:
