Just clayed my car, got a question

Don't have a lot of time in my life to detail how I'd like, so I tend to do what I can when I can.

I just washed and clayed my Civic. Clay pulled out lots of dirt and also removed some little rust spots things. Smmooottthhh.

Looks great as is. Hell, looks brand new! I just placed an order for some glaze. In the meantime, should I polish now and wash when my other stuff gets here? Or should I drive as is, wash when the stuff gets here and then polish, glaze and seal?
Or does it even matter?


I'll be using PC with M105 and M205; Poorboys White Diamond; Meguires #21 and then either Autoglym or Gold Class carnuba.

I'd probably just leave it myself.

Then when your other supplies arrive, do another good/complete wash then carry on with your other steps.

Just my thinking, others might disagree but that is their right to.

imo, if you polish there is no need for glaze. Just seal and wax

I'll use a glaze for it's hiding abilities if I don't want to polish
but some like them even if their paint is flawless b/c they feel it gives added pop and depth. I think you can get the same effect with a couple coats of a good wax on top of a cured sealant.

Thanks, I've heard both sides. I've never glazed, I just wanted to try the full treatment just because I can.

How long before you get back to it?

Claying removes anything off the surface, this would include any previously applied wax or sealant.

If it's not going to be too long then like Mark, aka kb2ehj posted, just wash really well and pick back up where you started.

Fact is modern paints are pretty tough, going a week or two with no wax protection and in light of the fact that you're going to compound the paint with UC will put you back to square one when you start again.

Well, I just took advantage of the 24 hr sale, so how ever long it takes to get to me. Usually over a week since I'm in Utah. But it's garaged, I drive a gov't car during the week, and I guess I'll just drive my $4.25/gallon Diesel truck when I have to until everything gets here.
