I ordered the C. Quartz kit wednesday along with a bunch of cobra MF's and dr. colorchip and A. Quartz reload spray and Iron x. I am planning on polishing, fixing some chips on my hood and then applying C. Quartz? any tips i should have? i have read a bunch of threads on here about using this stuff i just really want to have an idea of how to use it so i dont mess up! Should i use the foam applicator wrapped in the suede MF's the kit comes with or use makeup applicator pads? And i recently sealed with Megs #20 polymer sealant which is working amazing still after 3 weeks, how should i go about removing this? and after i have applied C. Quartz and waited a week or whatever the anti wash period is, maybe this is a stupid question, but could i wash with dawn on a regular basis? I washed with dawn prior to applying the #20 and it suds AMAZINGLY and very slick. I know its not a good practice to do this but if it wont harm the coating then why not, its better than any car wash shampoo ive ever used. And any tips for applying reload on top of C. Quartz? Anything and everything will be approciated!

I believe you'd have to wait a few weeks after the paint touch-up before the C Quartz application. I also saw somewhere that C Quartz is not recommended for use on a SMART paint repair...

Ist off, don't worry. Applicaction is very simple.

After your paint is polished to perfection... Strip the paint with your choice of products. I Used Optimum Power Clean 3:1 followed by a mineral spirits wipedown. I also did an IPA wipedown but thats overkill.

Yes, use the applicator wrapped with the suede mf's it comes with. I tried it that way last time and it works excellent.

No, do not wash with dawn! It shouldnt remove the CQuartz but it will dry out your rubber and all kinds of things. Leave the Dawn in the kitchen where it belongs.

Good luck and enjoy :dblthumb2:

Great advice.

I used it over the weekend and it's very easy to use.

The most important thing, just like using a wax or paint sealant is to get your paint perfectly prepped, that is remove any and all swirls, scratches and water spots.

Next, after the last machine or hand correction/polishing step, you need to get the surface surgically clean. I wiped the paint using a flat weave microfiber towel with a 17% mixture of IPA. To me this is the hardest part because you have to be super careful that you don't re-instill any toweling marks in the process.

The Cquartz spreads out very easily and is as clear as water, any area of paint that you want to coat has to be spotlessly clean because you don't want to pick up any dirt or abrasive particle onto your suede applicator.

Apply, let dry, wipe-off remaining residue.

The results are a very clear finish, this is the type of results you would get from any premium finishing wax or sealant but with the features of the CQuartz.

:)

Hi, well Corey and Mike said most of the details.. i will just add few words to your questions.
after finish applying the Cquartz , we say dont soap wash for 7 days! water rinsing will not be a problem , if you see bird drop or any other harsh dirt , ofcourse wash it quickly.
about the Reload, use it 1 hour after finished cquartz it will be ok.
good luck.

Is this so the CQuartz coating has a "window of time" to fully set-up, cure, bond, whichever term best describes the curing/drying process?

:)
Hi Mike
its not about the cquartz final curing, while its not fully 100% dried the alkaline inside soaps may affect the water repellent effect from the cquartz, so we recommend this to customers.
any car cquartz'd will find it much less dusted, so called "self cleaning", so only water wash during the first week will do the job.

Here is a great , well made video, done by our Dutch dealer (thanks Tim )

its fast forward i know !!, but still you can see in between the whole procedure. from preparing to final coating:

How about car wash soaps that are pH neutral?

Thanks for all the advice guys, got my kit in today, i almost ran to the ups truck out in the driveway, but did not get around to applying it, instead i wetsanded a bedside and buffed it to perfection. Body shops are paint butchers im telling you! I will post pics tommorow of before and after shots of the wet sanding, it turned out GREAT!

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I searched and could not find an answer. After I apply CQuartz and remove it with MF towels can the towels we washed and reused or should the towels be thrown out?

Avi advised that they cannot be reused. those are best demoted to engine bay cleaning. please check out the lab tests done with CQ. dunno if i can point you to that forum.

if you will wash them in strong soap , (ask Richy how he do it) right after you finished it will be ok to re-use
but if you leave them to dry as is and use it day after or 48 hours after.. you could marr any paint you use them on, since the quartz crystallized inside the mf.

hi avi, good news then.

Richie, what soap did you use? how was the MF towels on cars without CQ?

i was able to use just 1 - $1 20"x12" MF for buffing and set aside my MF bonnets for buffing wax. not gonna risk it.

Thank you for the reply, please disregard my other post.

Thanks, I will do the same. I am new to detailing and reading on this site has been a big help.
