Best Products for a White Car

So, HERE is a link showing the power of DG 501!! (And on pearl white to boot)

Richy, I am a little confused. Aren't 501 and 105 both cleaner/sealants? You seem to use 501 as a cleaner (w/o 601) and 105 only as a sealant. I understand that 501 has greater cleaning ability. Does 105 have a better/more attractive sealant? I thought the were the same?

What would your thoughts on using 601/111 which is a pure sealant instead of 105.

I really want to try the DG combo as well, can anyone please explain the mixing processs more in depth, like how much oz of product do I need to mix together. I would greatly apreciate it.

As Doug mentioned you can mix it by ounce but 5oz. of product is a lot to waste. Try the following:

1 part DG 601:4 parts DG 501 or 1/4oz. of DG 601:2oz. DG 501 (same ratio for using DG 105 or DG 111)

Large plastic syringes will work so that you can mix even less if needed. Just remember that you will want to only do 1 part DG 601 polish bonding agent. If this becomes troublesome just apply DG 601 straight to the paint then layer DG 501 or 105 or 111 right on top without wiping away DG 601. Pre-mixing saves time and allows you to apply 1 product right away instead of 2. Does this help?

DG 501 has more chemical cleaners than 105 but I can't comment on exactly how much more protective properties one has over the other. In my opinion if you know you have clean paint then you can use DG 111 without issue. In my experience DG 105 is less temperamental with humidity than DG 111 can be.

Products discussed:

DG 601 - Polish Bonding Agent
DG 501 - Marine/RV Polish
DG 105 - Total Performance Polish
DG 111 - Clear Coat Polish

Thanks for all the feedback on DG, but think I have narrowed it to Collinite 845IW and Megs #16 given the current condition of my car.

Would appreciate feedback from those using either of these products.

Not sure, but you might want to start a new thread solely for those DG products. Looking for feedback here on Collinite 845IW and Megs #16 at this point.:dblthumb2:

So which is considered better? 601/105 blended or 501/105 blended?

Thanks for the info! So pretty much I can do 4oz of DG501 mixed with 1oz of DG601?

There's no need in blending Marine Polish with Total Performance Polish. The 601 polish bonding agent accelerates the curing process of the Duragloss polishes. The typical routine is to apply/remove a paint sealant and wait 12 hours for the polymers to link or bond. Using this process allows you to wait only 2 hours but if you can bake the car in the sun then it will be less. Using 501 Marine/RV polish is like using any other chemical paint cleanser except it contains sealant or protective properties. It sounds like a difficult process but it really isn't.

If you feel the need for that much product then yes. :)

Sorry. We were attempting to help you but you lost interest and others gained interest.

Since you're new as I am, not always the best to limit yourself to 1 thought either. :dblthumb2:

Agree, but after looking at all these products further, I am interested in feedback on Collinite 845IW and Megs #16. :dblthumb2: Lots of choices out there.

Good luck with that combo, I've heard enough from a pretty well-regarded detailer here that I'm trying the duragloss combo this weekend. Have fun!:dblthumb2:

Its funny cause I have heard the same about Collinite 845IW on another board; guess I need to start a new thread then at this point.

I am sure you will have great results with the 845 16 combo. I have not used that combo, but have had great results with Collinite. Their are so many GREAT combos that picking one is impossible.

These are both waxes and have no cleaning or correcting ability. Totally different products from the DG combos I personally like 845 as a topper for DG. You can find many threads complementing 845.

Exactly, I am combining it with a polish which is all that is needed given the condition of my car. Not sure how this thread got hijacked into a DG thread. I was looking for various feedback and then after doing some research, did not want to go with DG, so was trying to get feedback as previously mentioned. Oh well, on to other threads I guess.
