I will be using DG 501/105 and 601 on my full size extended cab truck this weekend. I plan on mixing them at a 4:1 ratio, 4 parts 501/105 to 1 part 601.

My question is how much should I mix up to complete the truck? I will be applying with a GG DA and a Tangerine Hydrotech.

How long can I store the mixed product, if at all?

I am the one who introduced that concept here. If you have any questions about it, PM me or post it here. I'll try to check back.

I thought Sal introduced the concept with ZFX, after he got tired of 601...er, I mean Z-1.

Most likely you will use more of the 601/501 mix if you're deep cleaning the paint so I would mix by ounces. The 601/105 mix should be used as your protection stage so I would go 1/4oz 601 : 2oz 105. Just make sure you shake the product well and I have a habit of shaking the mix often but not sure why? I would only mix what you project to use. Do you have a softer pad than the tangerine HT?

This is true and I try to always give you credit for it.

That made me

did I make boo boo by posting the link and not giving credit? Thought it was evident by the thread...

This was not about taking credit for anything on my behalf. The original thread outlines how Jerry Bailey advised me to do it. My point is that I was the one to share that idea with this forum and others. It's irrelevant frankly. It works. It saves time. The products congeal after 24 hours or thereabouts but is still useable. That's all that really matters. Richard's advice on the quantities is spot-on.

Thanks to everyone for all of the replies.

I do have crimson HT pads I could use. My thinking was I could get a slight amount of correction using the tangerine pads. The tangerine pads have always finished down nicely using Opt. Hyper Polish so I "assumed" the 501 would finish nicely with this pad as well.

I was reading a Todd Cooperider article where he compared pads on a DA polisher using Optimum Poli-Seal.The tangerine Hydro-tech was at the top of the list of pads tested. I believe the softer (crimson) pads absorbed much more product making them less desirable for use with AIO products.

Please share your thoughts on a different pad choice.

They will probably be fine. Try both and see what works better for you with that paint.

Holy cow man, I was joking, it was a Zaino joke...
No problem bud, just didn't want to come across as arrogant.

Thanks Richy, not overly concerned with the pad choice on this vehicle since it is 10 years old and is used as a truck. My other cars are a different story and I will try the crimson pads first on them.

The weather forecast is calling for rain again here in the St. Louis area for the weekend. This project may get pushed back until I get better weather.

Hey, just to let you know, I'm doing a 2006 Vette this weekend and it is being cleaned up for sale. My LSP is a combo of 601/501 put on via DA with a blue (maybe Uber) pad on speed 6. I am using the mixture from last year. It is quite thick but is doing a great job. Gonna need to mix some more up tomorrow. Topping it with Colli 845.

Skipping the 105? and did you ever have a repeat of the hazzing issue you ran into last year with the Colinites over the DG? I have not experienced it yet and use the combo routinely

Chris, I got a call from VW91 who had experienced the same issue with Colli. I couldn't remember what the solution was so I suggested spraying it with ice cold water and wiping it down again. I then went on a hunt and found Ken had also run into the same problem and his solution was to use it as a WOWO product and not to let it haze. I did that on the Vette and we have had humidity lately (why VW91 had problems) and it is perfect. BTW, I skipped 105 b/c he is putting it up for sale so 501/845 will be more than enough. You say you use the combo regularly; do you do the Colli as WOWO or let it haze?

I let it haze. I use both 915 and 845 at times. I remove with pc and microfiber bonnet to save my shoulder from flaring up... I'm sure I apply heavy by forum standards. I'll keep looking for it but in MD we got plenty of humidity maybe I'm just not looking for it enough

I'm just going to use it WOWO for now. I did not have a problem with so many cars until that first one hazed up. It was cool in my garage with no humidity out into a hot, humid day and that's what kicked it up. The real test to see even if WOWO works will be when it gets so humid again that I have to run the AC in the garage.

I think the big difference is that my garage is not cool in anyway... so the car does not go from an air conditioned situation to a humid one.

You could just apply your last step with the garage door up and air off :-P
