DG 501 & 601 mixing suggestions

Well it finally quit raining long enough for me to do the truck today. The 4:1 ratio of 501 to 601 worked great. I used 2 ounces of 501 and 1/2 oz. of 601 and that was enough to do the entire truck including the topper.

I was amazed at the dirt that came off on the pad after having just washed it with 901 soap.

This truck has been out doors for the past 10 years so I decided to try out my IronX on the hood. The truck is pewter colored and I was expecting a sea of purple, but to my surprise the only purple I got was out of the rock chips that are down to bare metal, it found every one of them.

The product worked, I was just expecting my paint to be horribly contaminated after 10 years.Apparently iron contamination is not a problem in my area.

Paul, I'm delighted the mixture worked well for you. I love 501; it's one of my ultimate favourites!

Quick question what pad and speed do you guys suggest applying 105/601 combo via DA?

I ended up using crimson Hydro Tech pads. They worked well. I have some white LC pads in my shopping cart that I am going to get for using 501 and poli-seal. I really like seeing how much dirt is pulled out of the paint, very cool.

Thanks Richy, you haven't steered me wrong yet.

anyone tried mixing 601 with non-DG product? preferably cleaner sealant? just curious.

only works with DG products apparently

only way to know for sure is to test it. I think 93fox is going to make an attempt with 601/blackfire

What criteria will determine whether this is successful? Let's say there is no hazing or streaks and the sealant doesn't fall on the ground does that mean it works? How will you determine cure bonding, time, durability, etc? Sorry, engineering background.

I don't think there are any quantitative measurements, he's just going to be doing half the trunk with and without and then leaving it...

Please visit this thread. While I do not have the inside scoop, I don't believe this is a universal bonding agent. As Doug stated, how do you know if it's successful? I have mixed it in the past with no visible issues such as streaking or hazing. I did not allow products to sit long enough to test durability. Best of luck to anyone who wishes to mix products not in the same line of chemicals and polymers.
