Decision has been made!

Good luck! i am jealous. once i gain enough business, i wish to do the same thing.

Also, as mentioned above, i would be worried about burning bridges. Im glad they asked for you to stay 2 weeks, and i am glad you are following through with that. you dont want to hurt your reputation.

Good luck and congrats!

I have worked at my current job as a Computer Operations Specialist in the banking industry for 27 years now and making decent money, but in just over a year, we've spent thousands of dollars on professional detail training, thousands on products and equipment, and over a thousand on printed material and other advertising. Our client base is growing all the time and we are now looking at a fixed location. This Summer, we're scheduled to join the detailing team of "Air Force One" and are looking forward to a very busy season. Well, I have decided to quit my job today to go full time detailing. It's been a VERY TOUGH decision, but I'm tired of all the banking politics and just want to leave it behind me. I am now setting at my works computer, waiting for my all my bosses to come in at around 8a.m. and I'm going to drop my resignation on their desk that indicates my employment with them ends immediately. Please wish me luck in our new FULL TIME CAREER!!!! Thanks to everyone here on the forum for all the great information and inspiration to make such a drastic move out of the "Comfort Zone!"

Bad Move. Never- ever burn a bridge. You need to give notice. The only one who may get hurt walking out in YOU. Be smart.

Good luck on you new business.

I admire you greatly. Quitting your job, and starting all over is bold. I wish I could bring myself to do the same. The automotive repair industry isn't exactly thriving in my area right now....

Anyway, I wish you the best of luck, and hope you will share your work with us!

Congratulations!

Too many people let factors hold them back from achieving. I greatly admire your determination and ability to move in a new direction. Sometimes

In a worst case scenario, if it does not work out you still have a long and successful career to fall back on. So, as a worst case scenario you are still in good shape.

WOW....My HUGH DECISION of the day involved rather or not I should eat my philly cheese after dropping it face up on the kitchen floor :o

Tell your boss you already have someone lined up to fill your position. I'm super good with numbers

Example:

2 + 2 =4 / 4 x 8 = 32 / 32 - 16 = 16 / 8 divided into 16 = 2

I hope you still ate the philly cheese.

Update! This past weekend we began setting up our new shop. 3 bays and plenty of shelving/storage for products. We are directly across the street from 4 dealerships, in between a body shop and a muffler shop, in the same parking area as a very busy drive-thru coffee shop. I spent some time introducing ourselves to the dealerships this past week, all are very excited to have a quality detail shop right across the street. One of the dealers said they would be sending any where from 40 to 50 cars to us per month. I'd be happy with just 15 - 20 cars a month. The coffee shop has a car pull in about every 30-45 seconds which is right by our shop doors. We plan on officially open this Saturday. I'll post some pics as soon as I can.

Thank you to everyone for the possitive feedbacks and prayers. It was a tough decision to make, but a necessary one.

Wow, talk about the perfect location!! That is awesome! Regardless of the number of cars you receive, and how much more or less money you make than your previous job, I wish you the best in your new adventure! This is a very inspiring thread to a lot of people that spend a good portion of their days in a cubicle (including myself)!

Sounds like a great location. I wouldn't get overly excited about the dealerships themselves sending you business as much as I would their client base that may notice your establishment

The coffee shop sounds very promising too. Anyone who can afford an $8 cup of coffee everyday can surely afford to have their whip detailed occasionally

I would recommend you always keep a special going of some sort. Ppl love stuff they think their getting for free or at least at a discount

Good luck and God bless

I totally agree. That's why I said I'd be happy with only 15 cars or so per month from the dealers. And you are right, offering a special would be a good thing to do. I'm already talking with the coffee shop to see about offering a free cup of coffee with every detail. Hope it all comes together real soon...

You might try having 1 day a week (slowest day...usually tuesday) "ladies day" and offer a discount

You should also hit Twitter and Facebook and offer your followers discounts there too

Very excited for you
