Optimum Coating Pro Version Review - Premium Detailed - Garry Dean - Tampa, FL

nice video!

i have the 2.0 version

after the application do i have to throw away the micofiber towel and foam pad?

i remember reading somewhere that when the product dries it hardens or something. i cant find the post anymore or what website it was on..lol

I would just wash them. I washed out the applicator with Dawn and havent noticed it turning hard on me. Not sure though.

Tonight is chat night with Optimum on the Autopiaforums.com site so Im sure if you ask your question there you will get a solid answer.

I use Snappy Clean Pad Cleaning Powder to clean applicator - hasn't turned hard after several uses

Here is a bump for you.

I too let the "OptiGuard" flash before wiping off but understand the concern of not wanting to polish out any high spots again just to do the panel over.

About washing out the MF's after being contaminated with "OG",I have but won't use them on paint again (only interiors/door jambs/wheel wells ect..) because the time it takes to polish a panel/s out again (if they did scratch because of dried OG) I could just buy more MF's.Again, just my opinion.

Lexus looks good Garry and thank you for taking the time to make the video. :props:

Beginning was shot with a Canon elph 100 and the end was with a canon SD1100 is both point and shoot.

That is a great practice, keeping the safety of the customer's vehicle in mind. But, there is no "bond" with the microfibers not a "reaction". As long as you wet/wash soon after use, there is no reason to demote the towels usage from paint. There are disposable microfiber towels available that are in rolls similar to shop towels if you still feel the need to discard them after use.

I figured that, but wasnt sure. My towels have been watched and seem fine.

Garry,

The surface wasnt as slick as it is with a fresh coat of wax, but that was probably because the product wasnt cured completely when I felt it.

Even after curing it won't be slick like a wax. You can get the slickness back by going over with OCW after the Opti-Coat has cured.

If you want the ultimate finish/slickness wait a few days to allow the Opti-Coat to fully cure and then go over the paint with Poli-Seal using a blue or a red LC pad. I then instruct the client to use OCW after each wash.

I appreciate your 2 cents.

I couldnt keep the vehicle any longer, but I always give my product recommendations before the client takes posession after the detail.

There was no concern in this situation for slickness.
