I polished ad CQ'ed my wife's 2011 Obsidian Black ES350 over the Memeorial Day weekend. It turned out rather nice. Process was wash with Dawn, 2 stage polish with Wolfgang twins (TSR/orange pad, FG/white pad), wash with APC+ 20:1, wipe with distilled water, CQuartz except for the clear bra which got Powerlock. Here's some after pics, sorry no time for before's:

Great job and beautiful car :props:

We have a 2010 ES350 in Matador Red. You should get the windows tinted. They make a huge difference in the way the car looks and it's more comfortable driving in the summer.

What did you think of the CQ? Was it easy to apply?

looks great.. but, its a brand new car.. very easy to detail compare to older car .. :xyxthumbs:

Find a new black Lexus to polish if you think it's so easy. Black is a bear to get right and Lexus black is doubly so.

I am not raining on his parade.

Im a auto detailer. high end. I detail lambos, ferraris, porsche, aston martin, bentleys, Audi R8's, vette z06's, Nissan GTR, Lexus, BMW, Mercedes etc..

Ive done all muti-color cars.. yes, Black is hard to get clean as whistle, then after an HR, it intends to get dirty the quickest.

You prolly had defects, saps on that new car? correct?

Im not dissing on your work. You did a marvelous job! A+

Try a car with bird #### stains, defects in paint, swirlmarks galore, deep scratches- in order to wet sand.. Much harder and takes more time then New car prep.

so your saying that if the car was in worse condition we would have seen his post at 11pm instead of 6 pm?? removing those defects isn't difficult, especially if he can achieve a finish like the one posted above.

great work OP. i love it when a black car looks like a mirror!! (hence my sig)

I understand that he's proud of his car, and it does looks nice, but really...not much effort to make a new car look good. My wifes' '07 IS looks pretty nice too for four years old.

HeavyMetal...finish the job and detail those tires too.

new car or old car, doesn't make much of a difference. car in my sig is 20 years old. the paint may be new, or old, condition may be different.

what are we judging him on? that he detailed new paint which was probably hacked up horribly from the dealer? we all know new cars come standard with holograms from hack job detailers at dealerships.

or are we judging him based on that he only took 5 hours instead of 12 hours to detail the car?

what if his before pictures showed a lot of damage, would we be having the same conversation?

i think its safe to say "great work, looks awesome" and leave it at that right?

Nice Lex! I'm guessing based on the ride height, is that an IS250 AWD?

Read again TT, I did say that his car looks nice, I'm not picking on him at all. If he wants to show off his car, fine just admit it. I don't know what kind of dealership you deal with, but my new cars roll out looking pretty good - especially from Lexus. My problem with this forum is people detailing new cars like it was a big deal. Same thing with guys showing before shots of "awful" interiors that are just dirty from sloppiness with a drink. Not a big challenge to clean it up. I've cleaned up a lot worse without a second thought. Apparently a lot of other forum members agree with my point of view too.

Yup. I love the shots where the hood has reflected the blue color in the sky and the doors have reflected the yellow and green in the roses. Took me close to 10 hours of polishing to get rid of all the little hairlines and the DISO from a lot monkey wash. I asked them not to touch it when they did the free oil change, but they just couldn't resist washing it. I told them I wasn't happy and to never touch it again. The bear about black is you can look at from 8 diff angles and it looks great, move a hair and out pop the defects. A lot of the 10 hours was spent hunting defects and the other nite I still found two small hairlines in the hood.

This weekend I need to finish the job and get the tires and interior. With the storms that ripped thru here, I spent a large part of the weekend helping neighbors clean up limbs from the storm. Fortunately, only one house got hit and that was only some damaged gutter. My next door neighbor lost two very nice trees. He'd chain saw a bit, I'd break from the car and help him drag away the branches. Big stuff we put out as free firewood. It was gone in an hour. I was lucky, my yard just had a ton of small limbs and leaves all over and my garden looks like it will recover from the hail.

Thank. No just a everyday IS250, zillions of 'em around here. We put the Foose wheels on just so we could find it in the parking lot. Height is more than I'd like but it's my wife's car and she doesn't want it lowered.

Looks nice though. Show her some pics of a smaller wheel gap, and she'll change her mind hopefully. Lol!

All of this doesn't channge the fact that yoi yourself have no clue what it looked like before, apparently you have a rpoblem with people who post pictures of cars that weren't falling apart... great so now new cars and cars that aren't sunfaded from years of abuse aren't good enough to be postedwithout having the owner being told "looks good. But it wasn't that hard" when you've got no clue. I don care if you detail ferraris with a toothbrush with 1 bristle on it for 200 an hour, you are still showing your a&& in this thread and commenting that someones car (new or not)

was "easy" is just un needed. If you feel that you don't like these kinds of posts then keep quiet or go somewere else, even new cars need tlc, 1 trip to a dealer wash pit can scratch them like no other.

Btw. He never said it was in awful condition and then showed a picture of 2 scratches, so yourentire point is invalid from your post about how people post up awful stuff when its not

Good day

Op, Looking good.

It a detaling forum. Peple will post thier cars they detailed. You do no know the condition of the paint. Maybe it was his first detail ever. No need to be a #*$%. Your comming across like your some all mighty detailer who does the worst cars creating the best turn arounds.

I dont see any show n shnes by you anywhere now do we.

Whoops. Sorry heavy metal. Didn't mean to quote you on that meant it for the other one

Hi Craig!! Looks like your dealing with a tough crowd today..:bash: :awman: The car looks very nice, I'm sure the wife is very pleased with it.

Too bad for the unusually childish replies from the thread pirates. :nomore:

It just goes to show that even a guy who can't figure out how to write a simple paragraph without misspelling words and using poor grammar can detail a high end car. It makes me wonder what they're trying to prove?

Now I guess I'm childish too for fueling the fire.
