7424x or Flex?

Not having used the new microfiber pad system I can not comment on it. It may well indeed be the equalizer.
With standard pads I consider the Flex a far superior machine. I have used it side by side on the same car (a Mercedes) against a PC and a Cyclo. It was simply no contest. Yes, all will get the job done eventually but the Flex cut the work time involved in half or less. Same pads (orange) & same polish (Menzerna Intensive care) on all and on the same hood & trunk. Under those conditions it was a slam dunk for the Flex. Of course for the price it had better out perform the others and it did that in spades.

Just my findings in a one on one "contest".

hmmmmmmmmm very good points have been made on both machines.

Flex has a forced rotation meaning faster correction with the flex. But, some will say it doesn't matter now if you use the megs MF pads with the porter.
Agreed. However, if I see any re-painting before I polish a car, I will not use the MF system for that area. On OEM paint, it's great! When it comes to foam pad polishing, I will only polish with the Flex 3401.

The Griot's DA has the same throw as the Flex 3401(5/16" or 8mm). I don't know about the PCXP and Meg's G110v2.

Can you say forced rotation?? ;) This is HUGE to me!
Forced rotation..how about a rotary?:xyxthumbs:

I Couldn't agree more!! I am interested in purchasing the Flex down the line!! Thanks for all the input everyone.

Don't let anyone fool you, the PC can and will do the same thing as the Flex in the same amount of time. I very rarely even use my Flex anymore, I grab my PC almost every time. Plus you can't put a 4" pad on the Flex.

I haven't used the PC but I did not enjoy polishing with the Griots while I love polishing with my (no vibration) Flex 3401.

I disagree about the 4" pads ;)

Ok you can't use 4" pads without buying and modding another backing plate ;)

Of my four polishers (PCXP, Makita 9227, Flex PE-14-2, & Flex 3401), if I could only have one, it would be the 3401.:buffing:

I've come across jobs that the DA MF system couldn't handle, but the Flex w/ Hydrotech pads made short work of it. I'm sure the rotary would have done the same but with higher risks.

It may be just my way of thinking, but that seems a mighty strange analysis on the re-paint issue, unless, of course, you have personal knowledge of the painter's re-spraying techniques.

Meguiars has openly said the MF system is meant for OEM paint.

That's my understanding as well. I've used it on repainted surfaces with similar results. However, when used with the PC the pads became a bit grabby, and the D300 was a little harder to remove. The finished product came out the same though. Not sure why they specify OEM paint

Thanks for your reply. I once again had a mild brain freeze. :)

I know you know, as well as do I, their rational in stating this---I just wish they were more forthright in their disclosing the facts on the why!

Most aftermarkets paints/re-sprays don't fancy a DA. Therefore, IMO, to head off possible damage claims, Megs with the above in mind, forewarns to use their MF System---with a DA only---on OEM paint surfaces.

Thanks for the input everyone, what is this MF Pad system all about? This is the first time I am hearing of this......how much more efficient is this system than the Lake Country Foam Pads, which have done wonders for me?

The stuff sounds really good, but how good is their correction compound? Like is it for light swirls? Moderate Swirls??
