I accidentally scrubbed off my tire's sidewall

The only reason why I asked the OP "Pics or it didn't happen" is because I can't believe that someone could "rub" away all that rubber with only a brush. I mean I know soft sidewalls but that's just ridiculous.

FYI My cars are shod on Bridgestone RE050 and the other one is riding some Nexen tires.

Not that the OP hasn't been forthright in disclosing how the damage occurred to the tire's sidewall...but all the same...like you requested: pics could be helpful in recommending a "fix". That's why I suggested the OP may have to refine his tire-cleaning method.

I hope for your sake you purchased these tires from Discount/America Tire and or Tire Rack since they do ask you if you want to warranty them from any and everything with no questions asked replacement policy...which I would do if you say you did what you just said you did.

Are you sure about that? I spent countless hours reviewing tires before I purchased and you do not have to look far to find reviews that detail the problems with these tires. They are not all bad, but the Tire Rack rep told me they have a higher rate of warranty returns than the the other tires in this class and he "wasn't sold on them". He did recommend several other tires besides the Michelins that were lower in price so he wasn't just trying to "Get a bigger cut"

Ah well I'm sorry I just made an ass of myself.

Most of the time Michelin tires are the most expensive in any tire sellers line up because... They just are. And no I wasn't saying the tires suck either because they usually make pretty damn good street tires.

But yeah I've never had problems with Conti's and going over the issue that the OP is having its hard to leave he could have worn things down.

No harm, no foul. I did not mean to criticize your decision to by the DWS tires. Many, probably most people are happy with them and I am glad you are having good luck with yours.

Yeah I never had any problems with Conti's but just that they aren't my favorite. Just like I don't like Bridgestone's and the RE050 will be the last set I ever buy.
 
The sidewall feels kind of fuzzy, almost like suede. I'm thinking of trying the wetsand idea (by hand though). That seems like it might help at least. I took a pic but there was nothing to see. It just looked like black rubber.

FWIW I have heard others say that these tires are a problem with dressings. I always used 303 on my bridgestone RE960's before these but the Conti's just wouldn't take it. The PBO was better but still very uneven. That's why I was cleaning them. Look at that pic of the white-ish tires on Page 1. That's what mine looked like at first.
