CQuartz & Reload Questions For Avi...

I think that people using these new coatings have a problem...they can't help themselves from the old school way of thinking, specifically the uncontrolled desire to top these coatings with every darn possible combination of sprays, waxes, and anything in between.

Perhaps true to an extent, however my desire is simply to continue to use rinseless washing. It's far faster and avoids water spotting, which is something of a prob for me since I have very hard water.

I've also found that CQ rejcts dirt and water so well that rountine washing is unecessary. This will be the first time I've washed my wife's car in three weeks. I've been dusting lightly with an mf sprayed with QD; works just fine. It really doesn't need washed now, it's just that I'm washing mine so I'll do hers too - only takes me 15 mn or so.

I'll post a separate question for Avi for those of us who like to do rinseless washes. Even though CG sheds water like crazy, I just don't want to go back to the mess and bother of regular washing.

Well, I'm not saying you should top these coatings but some of the people have a rationale. They wish to impart a more slick feel to their paint than what is provided by the coating.

I would like more slick feel also, but it seems to me that toppers would impede water and dirt release.

You can get the slicknfeel by using a finishing polish after curing. No need to top.

It seems like a good finishing polish would be Menz po85rd

It is a great finishing polish but is also a ton more money than Poli-Seal and you really wont gain anything more by using it ;)

As with a sealant, some people will sacrifice one of the products features and top it with another product to improve what to them is sort of lacking with the sealant, according to their respective tastes. I bet the Cquartz (or any revolutionary coating) is, on its own, a very good product. Water and dust rejection plus longer durability make it a very good buy.

I wouldn't fault people though for using it as their initial layer to protect their paint and top it with another product, sealant or wax, to provide more depth or slickness; or just to provide additional sacrificial barrier - protector of the protector or simply put it, a pawn in a chess board. People will do what they want even it means that they'll have to give up some. If someone is in love with the depth and overall look of Souveran, they can top CQuartz with it even if it means more dust to remove and more money to spend because Souveran's durability will be dramatically shorten. After all, LSP's are subjective to the user.

From Chris' post #22 above I was thinking the idea was just to make surface slicker by polishing not to top with sealant. My thinking is that OC has better dirt/water release than the topping it just doesn't feel as slick.( I might be all wet)

Poli-Seal is an AIO that contains abrasives ;)

Sorry, I wanted to open this thread back up again with a related follow-up question (that I don't think was answered): will washing with a soap that contains polymers (i.e. Optimum Car Wash or ONR) cause issues when applying ReLoad? In other words, I understand that Optimum may reduce some of the benefits of already applied CQ, but will it cause any bonding issues when applying ReLoad?

On a related note, what car washes do you all recommend that don't contain polymers, etc... and just clean the car (as Avi has suggested)?

I have never had issues combining ONR and ReLoad. ReLoad rocks.
DG 901 for the 2nd question.
