I washed the car with meguiars gold class dried it and used meguiars smooth surface clay kit, I then proceeded using my rotary with a dynabrade attachment Lake country 5" backing plate and and 5.5" orange pad

The results look fantastic! Would you mind posting your process OP? :)

that's got to be the most dramatic transformation I have ever seen.

How does a car get that oxidized anyhow?

Looks great. How did you overcome the hazieness from your other post?

well i used meguiars ultimate compound on orange pad it took about 2-3 passes each section to get to where i was happy with the results....

and dr oldz what I did was I found that applying any wax or polish after the ultimate compound stage made it dull again until I applied meguiars number 7 again by hand letting it soak in and removed it

WOW awesome work! That lil chevy looks sweet now!! I also ROCK a dyna-brade from time to time.

Looks AWESOME, Nathan! Nice work!

Sorry I didn't return your call from yesterday BTW, I've been out of the house a lot this weekend and didn't get the message until late. Glad that Dynabrade worked out well for you and that you figured out a process that worked on that finish.

I'm heading to Grand Rapids on Tuesday for a few days to work on it, in fact... A write-up will be coming by Friday or Saturday :props:

that is awesome can't wait for that I know you will do a great job on it

Nice transformation! You probably just doubled the value of that old Luminaries.

Wraith,

With your experience with UC you said it hazed back up after applying a wax?......can you explain further please.

Thanks,
Andrew

Car looks great, but whats with all the Confederate flags? Don't you live in MI? :D

Nice turn around.

That is by far the nicest Lumina I have ever seen. Good job.

yeah I would do a few passes with ultimate compound on orange pad and the paint looked close to perfect.....i then tried to apply ultimate polish on white pad to bring out even more depth and color and it turned hazy and dull compared to what it looked like after ultimate compound....i then tried applying meguiars gold class liquid wax by hand on test spot after the compound step and it did the same thing....the only thing that actually improved it after the compound was applying another coat of number 7 by hand let it soak in for about 20-30 minutes and wipe off....but as soon as you put the wax on went hazy again.

and flannigan you will have to ask her about the confederate flags and etc.... that was not my doing
