Just bought a fairly good shape dark blue 2008 Nissan. Looking at the paint I first went with Meg 205 with white pad (not good enough) then 205 with an orange pad (close) so in the end I ended up with Meg 105 with an orange pad. Looks like it has just the right amount of cut. The car is not too swirled, just the usual auto car wash brush marks.

On my test panel, after Meg 105, I then went with Poorboys Black Hole. I applied it last night and the results look pretty good. I will have to see it today in the daylight. I plan to top it off with Men Power Lock.

Just wondering is adding Meg 105 right after just 205 another step I don't need? Seems like overkill to go 205, 105 black hole then power lock.

You are using products in the wrong order. 105 has much more cut than 205. 205 is a finishing polish. On my car I use 105/orange followed by 205/white or gray.

Thanks you are correct.....I edited to post for correction.

If you are getting the results with 205 and an orange pad then the next step would be your LSP. Don't use the 105 after the 205 you will be working backwards. 105 is the compound step to bring down severe swirls and scratches and 205 is the polishing step to help level everything out and give you the smooth surface you are looking to achieve. So if you have the desired results with the polishing step, then move on to the Last Step Process (LSP) with your wax or sealant. One thing you should do is to wipe the surface down to remove all the polishing residue left behind before waxing or sealing.

thanks.......exactly what I was looking for. I am wiping down after "swirl removal" with a dulited IPA/water mix.

Meguiar's M205 is a very nice finishing polish that will leave the surface extremely smooth and glossy when used with the appropriate pad. This is generally the last correction step before applying a sealant or wax.

I've used an IPA wipe-down for quite some time however recently I've been using plain old Mineral Spirits and really like how it cleans any residue or particulates.

Bobby, if you wanna get away from the harsh chemicals you might wanna try my modified car wash. I created this process after discussion w/ Avi @ CarPro on how to prep for ReLoad. He felt that the polymers in NR's would interfere (since then Richy says no) so I used Meg's Gold Glass at 1 oz to 2 gal dehumidifier water. I did a panel-by-panel wash just as you'd do with NR except I rinsed with mf's in dehumidifier water and then dried. Took me like 20 min to do the whole car - almost as fast as an NR. Should work just as well with OPC.
