question about G35 paint

Ok guys and gals, I've heard a lot about G35 paint being soft, self healing, and in general a pain to correct. I've read through some threads and seen some have had great success correcting said vehicle and no real complaints about the paint. I currently have a friends 2006 G35 pearl white that needs some TLC. Can anyone shed some light on this if you've had experience with this paint system what was used to correct or if the self healing paint I've read about is "year specific" or is "self healing" a term being used because the paint is so soft.

my current arsenal includes 105/205, ultimate compound, solo system, pinn advanced swirl remover. any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

I have a 03 G35. I did a write up on it <----Click here!

I used my PC7424 m105/205 and then sealed with Meg#21.

it was easy to work with and correct. i used orange 5.5 and did about 5-6 section passes with m105 on speed 5-6. hope this helps! Good luck :props:
 
The 06 isn't self healing and 105 works great depending on the damage done.
 
Ive used m105/m205 with orange and black pads. The second time around I used Meguiars D300/MF cutting pad and PO85rd on black pad.

You can also use D300/MF cutting pad and Menz 106fa/black pad. I was told that combo might work well for our paint.

What I found the second time around was that PO85rd finished better than m205. I have an 05 black G35 and it has soft paint.
 
I did one a while back and remember that Menz PF and SF was the combo I ended up using. Now to note...paint systems vary even with the same make and year.......So a test spot is always a good idea. You can get a general feeling for paint systems by asking what others have experienced.....but always do a test spot to make sure you are satisfied with the results!
 
Thank yo guys for your responses. I agree with the test spot and always do one but I was just curious to what others had experienced with self healing paint so incase I had it I would know how to approach it. But it seems I have everything I'll need to get this puppy looking it's best again again thanks for the input. Maybe I'll do a write up on this since I have done one in a while.
 
I had a 2008 G35X until 2 months ago. The paint corrects easily, so 105 might be a little overkill. Try some 205 with a soft green pad or even a grey/black pad first to see what happens.

I used menz power finish or 106FA if I had any swirls. Usually I used 85RD on a gray/black for touch-ups.
