I just received my shipment of Ultima Tire & Trim Guard Plus. Can't wait to give it a try.

I remember reading a thread that suggested using gloves to apply the product because it might stick to your hands. I will use gloves and a yellow applicator.

Here's the question....after application, can the applicator be cleaned? And if yes, how do you clean it?

Sorry if this seems like a dumb question.

Thanks in advance for anyone's help.

You can try to clean it with an all-purpose cleaner like Megs APC or Dawn dish washing soap, but I suggest you put it in a sandwich baggie to preserve it and designate it as your UTT&G applicator.

I will be curious to see what others "chime" in with...but seems to me that any good all purpose cleaner should do the trick in breaking down the excess product left on the pad. What I do is clean it.but you don't have to go crazy on it because I have several foam or microfiber pads that are dedicated to that one product. In my opinion this is the best way to get consistent results and not cross contaminate your products.

I keep my applicators in labeled zip loc baggies, so that the can be reused with the same product again in the future. I don't bother cleaning them until they get dirty for interior and exterior trim products.

:iagree:

I do the same but oftentimes I will spray it out with straight water real good and then after squeezing it I will sandwich it between 2 paper towels and press it do draw any buildup out.

If you use apc to remove UTTG don't be surprised if it doesn't take it out. Its tough as nails.

Mine came with a really nice black and blue applicator with a built in handle, why don't you use that one?

:iagree:I would love it if Ultima decided to sell this applicator by itself.

They used to have the Interior Guard applicator as well (if I recall correctly) but I don't see it right now.

I have. The smell was a little overpowering for a few hours, but I aired it out and all was well afterwards. My bimmer's dash is made up of a vinyl, rubber, squishy, textured type of material that is also used for the center console, door panels and parts of the seats. It's an '01 and the black interior was beginning to fade a bit (in some areas more than others), so I decided since UTT&G darkens whatever it's applied to, I would give it a try. I really liked the look and feel so I intend to reapply it again when it needs another application.

thanks kronos. 80% of my interior in black plastic/rubbery type material and the hot FL sun dries them up fast.

I may be wrong here...but I usually think that the labels indicate what is and is not safe. On the label it specifically says "for exterior use only"..I am guessing because it does have a strong smell.. that it is either a "unpleasant" odor that they do not think customers would like to deal with..or a safety issue (ie..hot cabin..gasses.. ventilation..not good to inhale in confined areas..toxic..who knows)..Maybe someone else can chime in on why it says "exterior only"
