This weekend I am planning to detail my 2 months old 2012 BMW 650 convertible (picture attaches) space gray metallic color (clear coat); this is my first time so here is what I am planning to do. What do you guys think?

Some background info; I washed the car weekly with P21S Bodywork conditioning shampoo 2 bucket method and rinsed it with CR Spotless de-ionizing spotless water so never dried it with a drying towel. As a result no water spots, no swirls or visible scratches. I did the baggie test after washing and drying, paint feels rough so need to clay it. My goal is same shine as the day i picked her up from the dealer (showroom shine.)

Here is my plan (all by hand):
Step 1. pre-soak with P21s Total Auto Wash to strip off all prior wax/glaze applied by the dealer
Step 2. wash (2 bucket) & rinse with cr spotless, let it dry (may use blower to accelerate drying time)
Step 3. clay it
Step 4. clean the paint with P21S Gloss Enhancing Paintwork Cleanser
Step 5. seal paint with Wolfgang Deep Gloss Spritz Sealant allow it to cure for a full 12 hours
Step 6. apply Wolfgang Füzion Carnauba Wax

How does this sound? Am I missing any additional step? or is this over kill for a new car? LMK what you all think.

Thanks for your suggestions and comments in advance.

First off, Beautiful car you have there!

Everything looks good. You will have more than a Dealership showroom shine with your list for sure.

imho

I'd go with Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant , or a full sealant, (not after wash spray on) cure, then fuzion

Yes- use the WG Paint sealant that you wipe on or apply with a machine.

What kind of clay bar are you using? Some are more aggressive than others and some will leave micro marring in the paint but it will come right out with your machine polishing. Do you use a machine with the P21S Paint Cleanser? I'm not familiar with that stuff.

One comment. You don't need to dry the car before claying. Leave it wet and clay. The water will serve as some lubrication so you'll use less clay lube.

To FastZR1, don't have a machine so was planning to do it all by hand. I want to get a machine polisher and seems easier and resulting in better results. what do you suggest PC or Flex 3401? This is my first time doing it so haven't used P21S Paint Cleanser before. The clay I got for this job is Pinnacle Ultra Poly Clay.

thanks smack, yes i ordered the sport package and every option offered including ARS & integral active steering. the 400 hp response of the 4.4-liter V-8 TwinPower Turbo V-8 engine is nearly instantaneous. very impressive man.

Sir- I started with the PC three years ago and then bought a Flex 3401 last fall. I use the flex 90% of the time because it has a forced rotating DA pad (if that makes sense) where the DA won't spin with a lot of pressure.
I do use the PC when I have small areas to polish because you can get a small backing plate and pads for the PC where you can't get the small ones for the Flex. I sometimes will use the PC to lay wax but either one works wells for me.
Try some searches on here because there are a lot of opinions already posted with regards to the two DAs. I'm real happy with both of them but if I was only going to buy one, I would go for the Flex because I can use it for 90% of my work.
Good luck in your decision.

Great looking car - I have a space grey 535 myself. The color is awesome - I have to admit it is hard to really get it to sparkle. The combos you have are awsome. I would try different combinations - perhaps sealant only and see if you like it - if you don't apply fuzion on top.

Whew, I can only imagine the loaded price of that bad boy. I havent driven the new 6er or the new 4.4 but have driven the older 650i sport pack coupe and it was amazing. I bet that new 4.4 packs a wallop.
