Meguiars Ultimate Compound vs M105

ok so iam new but i used both UC and 105 this week on the minivan. The UC went on easy and came off easy no learning curve, great results. But i have some scratches that i am trying to erase. So i went out and got some 105 becuase the UC did not diminish the scratches very much. The 105 definatly has more cut then UC. Also i had no problems with it either. i find the 105 works better for me in my situation. I will use both but i think the 105 has an edge becuase it handles a little more then the UC. IMO
 
One tool, not usually part of a detailing kit that comes in handy with M105 is a leaf blower to get all the dust off the car after you do a section.

Did you use orange 5.5" pads for UC, and 5.5" white for the UP?

Did you pick that M105 up at a store? If so where at?

Yes, 5.5 pads. I have a PCXP and it def does not lile 6.5 pads. The Griot's polisher reportedly has more power and no prob with 6.5. However, the build quality is reportedly not as good as the PC.

Yes, orange for the UC. I've only used UP twice in a few areas just to try it. Once with white and once with grey. I thought the grey glossed a bit better.

not sure about the PC build quality being better than Griots. usually a lifetime warranty means its a near flawless product. i have the Griots, it might be the best DA to use with 6.5'' pads because of its 7amp motor compared to the 4amp motor on the PC. Griots oscillates well under pressure, the PC does not, thats why i didnt like the PC.

on another note, i saw both M105 and M205 at pepboys yesterday in 32oz bottles for 40 buck a piece. not the best price but good to know incase you need to make an emergency run for it.

You need to learn some on-line etiquette. It is considered OK to mention a bricks and motar store for convenience, not OK to direct someone to a competing on-line site. Comprende?

Most brick and mortar stores these days also have an online presence, as does Pep Boys. I believe the distinction you make is no longer valid. If the answer to all questions about where to buy detailing supplies is supposed to be the site's sponsor then say so. I comprende facts, not bs.
 
It would actually be really nice if UC and UP was sold in more than that what 8/16oz bottles at retail chains. But since its more of the consumers and not for enthusiast and pros its stuck at that bottle size.
 
Just used UC today on my black Z4 with a B&D rotary and a finishing sponge pad to remove stubborn RIDS in the hood from the dealership wash jocky. Finished down to LSP ready. Great stuff!!!!!
 
To be honest I like UC, but I am looking for something a bit more aggressive but that is similarly priced. Like m105 but cheaper and maybe less dust. I am looking at 3m, but alot of people say its "rocks in a bottle" and it doesn't finish down well like megs compounds.

Meg's is very cheap if you catch a sale. Maybe AG will put them on BOGO (hint, hint). Several have commented that they don't have a dusting problem with proper technique.

105 is only $.10 more per ounce if you buy the 32 oz bottle. They also have an 8oz bottle thats under $10.
