I have a new 2011 Infiniti FX35, just coated it with Opti-Seal, (Opti-Seal is almost to easy to apply, I sure hope it lives up to its claims). Anyways, any idea's about if Opti-Seal looks better with something layered over it? I have some Klasse High Gloss Sealant, does it make sense to use that or is there a better idea?

Thanks guys for any help..

They say anything that you apply over the Opti Coat will just was off and you will also take on the charactoristics of the top coat and thus might loose some of the water repellancy of the Opti Coat. This is what I have read anyway I will be doing an Opti Coat on my 2011 CTS wagon and coupe

I have used many sprays, waxes, and even another sealant and still think it is likely best to leave it alone.

:iagree: Except substitute Opti-Seal for the Opti-Coat referrence. :)

@OP:
If I was going to use Klasse products, I'd go with Klasse AIO, topped with Klasse HSG...and leave that combo alone without any more layering, also.

Why are you not pleased with the Opti-Seal? Why do you feel that it needs to have a "layer" of another LSP? Not saying you can't or shouldn't, just curious, that's all.

Bob,

I'm just wondering if it's because of how easy it is to apply Opti-Seal that some feel it needs some additional assistance?

Just my thoughts....

BobbyG, :iagree: That's more than likely true. I like to see how an LSP, especially a sealant, actually performs...lives up to its claims.

I will, sometimes, apply two coats of a typical wax product to ensure total coverage, though.

Still curious of the OP's reasons for inquiring about topping (layering) Opti-Seal......OP.... Where art thou? :)

I just did one section of my wife's Camry with Optimum Opti-Seal and another section with Ultima Paint Guard Plus. I prepped both sections equally by washing, claying, and IPA wipe completely. After 20 minutes or so I applied each product according to directions and both look gorgeously glossy today...

Time will tell.....

Thanks Bobbyg-Man and Funx-dude:

You are correct, the reason I wanted to layer "something" on top of Opti-Seal was because it was TO EASY to use. I didnt even finish my first cold beer and I was done! I did read in a link that carbuna wax can be layered over Opti-Seal, any preference for Carbuna wax?

Thanks again for your insight!

BTW, the moderater banned me earlier from this Forum because I mentioned a product not sold by AutoGeek.he gave me 3 demerit points! So I had to create a new Fussman

So all of the Fussmans are gone and you, OP, are SofaKing. Correct? Welcome aboard. Don't mess up again! :D J/K

As I responded before: I prefer to not put anything atop a sealant...I really want to see how it performs! IMHO...Typically, if one layers a carnuaba wax atop a sealant, this "topper" LSP's characteristics will display its factors, overshadowing the sealants, until the "topper" LSP has eroded away. (Question: How much, then, if any, of the sealant's coating has been affected in the meantime? Wish someone would have that answer...At the present time...I Know I don't!)

These are just my opinions...You may, or may not, want to layer, top off, or otherwise cover-up your sealant. That's up to you, of course. :)

Let us know what you decide. Thanks.

Thanks...I think i'll just go all natural with the Opti-Seal, plus I'll save $95 on the Pinnacle Souveran Wax I was going to buy.

Optiseal looks so good, I rarely top it. OCW does look great on it though.

Yakk-er, do you layer Opti-Seal with Opti-Seal?...and whats OCW...I am a newbie at this.
