Hey gang it's Maxima DAD, Maxima Mom's other half...we are now a 2 Nissan family...we purchased a brand new 2011 Nissan Murano Sl AWD yesterday and yes Mike, it has some DISO...We traded in the ML55 AMG as it had become an unreliable money pit and our money tree crop still hasn't produced any fruit yet....

The car is balck on black, black leather interior and I have no idea how long it's been sitting on the lot, so my question is, other than utilizing the std. two bucket wash and foamer is there anything else special to do or more importantly NOT do on or to this "new" finish?

As always thanks in advance
Evan

Hey, welcome back! I was wondering when you guys would return :D. Let me give you some advice that I wish someone would have given me. AVOID polyester "wool" mitts. I used one on our 2011 Carbon Black Regal and it marred every panel . Now I have to polish the entire car instead of the doors. Use a real wool mitt, micro fiber, or cotton chenille mitt. Pressure wash (rinse) the car prior to washing if you have access to one. I used this method on our last black car and had very light and very few wash induced marks after 6 months. Congrats on your new purchase!

Claying and a light polish are always good. Then a good of wax or sealant.

Welcome back to the forums Mom and Dad. Your first correction post was truly a read for the masses. I look forward to additonal anecdotal posts in the future.

My condolences on the black paint. As one wit here noted: black isn't a color, it's a part-time job.

True. You might wanna take a look at one of the new "super sealants" like CQuartz or Opti-Coat. I put CQ on my wife's 2011 Obsidian Black ES350. It does work fanatastic. Sheds dirt and water like crazy, makes washing a breeze and does appear to prevent hairlines ans swirls. The Lexus black is famous for hairlining if you look at it the wrong way.
