How come I've never seen this before???? Is this buffer new to autogeek.net?

Actually, I was wondering the same thing. However, in my google search, I found other links to AG referencing the Metabo machine...all the way back to 2007 I believe. I was still wondering if they carried the machine?

I've used Metabo grinders before, and they're quality products in my book. They also make a 3 inch mini-polisher, extremely similar to the 3 inch Griot's.

That Metabo in the link looks like a very user friendly, and comfortable, tool. They're supposed to be the leadind manufacturer of power tools in Europe. Barring power specs, I'd say the Flex would be hard pressed to be that much better of a machine. I mean, comparing tools of virtually the same size and power. The Metabo costs much less as well...if you do some searching that is.

Looks like the used to carry this unit? I do have to say I feel better about Metabo then flex. We used to use all Flex tools on the polishing shop at work but at some point the availability of repair parts and consumables from then went down hill.

I would have to say that the Metabo is most likely a top of the line tool.

Well...I don't have any doubts that Flex makes good tools. If you use any machine heavily, they'll most likely have issues at some point.

I love Bosch and Makita grinders, but we used to have many issues with switches going bad...after much use I might add...some not so much. They still make quality tools.
 
They are both well built machines, but I perfer the Flex. I like a trigger instead of an on off switch. The speed dial on the Metabo is on the end of the handle and you have to tilt the machine to see the numbers. The Flex also has a decal on the top of the buffer relating to what number equals what rpm's.
 
Good info regarding the trigger as I wasn't aware of that. I only glanced at the photos. Being left handed though, I'd still have to tilt the flex, just in an opposite direction. I don't see having to tilt either one as being that big of an issue. The switch, maybe. The decal is nice on the Flex as well.

Those minor little things can add up to mean alot I suppose. I'd like to run them both side-by-side once.

Anyone else have any experience with the Metabo?

You're correct Charlie.

Like I said, I found links in my google search all the way back to 2007 and there may be older ones.

I'd like to see a trigger switch on this as well, but still it look quite comfortable to use.

Interesting that there's been no comments from AG staff.
