Questions about sealants

:iagree:

I would select UPP for all around best sealant for the qualitys you mention. You really can't go wrong with a bunch of these:
UPP
BFWD
MPL
Wgdgps

If you don't want to have to buff off your sealant use UPGP or OOS.

Hi Corey,

I haven't used UPP, but I probably should have mentioned UTTG. Didn't think of it because we were talking paint sealants and waxes. Anyway, UTTG is the only trim sealant I've found sof far that will hold up. I imagine that UPP will hold up just as well since their MSDS shows that both use the same petrochemicals or classes of petro's.

I do use MPL on my RAV. It does hold up. What happens to the wax topper is it oxidizes quickly, becoming sticky and gritty. It's not that the shine really goes away. I've had MPL on for 7 months now and it's just beginning to dull a bit. But hey, what can you expect? Every time it rains around here, all that diesel pollution ends up as a road grime emulsion splashed all over your car. There ain't many things that are gonna hold up to that.

Oops, sorry for the confusion Craig. I was agreeing with you about environmental factors but I was referring to the early posts when I said "I would select UPP for all around best sealant for the qualitys you mention."

I agree with you the MPL is very durable.

UPP I just used for the first time a few weeks ago and it shot straight to the top for me. As far as duarbility I haven't tested it yet.

I think you will be hard pressed to beat the durability of Duragloss 111/105 if used with PBA. Zaino Z2 will exceed those if used with ZFX. Also the Collinites are right up there too, but they are hybrid wax/sealants.

That said, durability does not equal protection. Some protect much better than others, even if they don't last as long.

Whew!! Well, thanks everyone...I guess what I'm getting at is which sealant would be the most durable with just one coat on average, taking into account the environmental factors involved, etc.

I do have some great recommendations here, and I'm definitely wanting to try something new.

One of the new "super sealants": CQuartz, Opti-Coat or GTechniq.

I had recently clayed, zaino z5, 845'd my new car, but I got the bug again and want to get the winter prep ready while I have time. My new plan is to use P21s Paintwork Cleanser, MPL topped with 845. I was told I could top z5 with 845 right after, would that be the same with MPL? or do I need to wait 12 hours? What would I top trim with?

i absolutely love ultimas wipe on/walk away sealant for my cars. dries in an hour and no buffing needed if you apply it properly and thin. i do 2 coats and it looks like glass and lasts 4-6 months. i prepped both finishes on the jag and mb with 5 and 4" yellow aggressive pads with my pc dp and followed bobby g's recommendation to use menxerna sip to take out all imperfections. i am a coucours winnner and have tried about everything known to man to get a perfect finish. the sip polishes down to a high gloss with just the yellow pad and finish it off with the sealant. hope this helps guys.

budinsc ps: bobby g is a wizzard and knows his stuff big time.

Hi Bud,

Yes, I'd have to agree with you...Bobby G really does know his stuff!! :dblthumb2:

So now I am faced with a dilemma...UPGP or Opti-seal, which one should I choose?
