This thread is not meant to upset anyone, I was just curious. I have seen a lot of people going to videos only in their show and shine write ups. I personally don't care for the videos at all, and generally will skip over them. I think it's because I like to sit and look at pictures for a while, and a video doesn't really allow that. I was just hoping to hear others thoughts. Discuss away!!!

Personally I love pics not vids... I can come back to the pics anytime without having to watch a portion of it before... but if it is a short vid I don't mind so much...

I don't mind videos that show someone working....washing, using their rotary/da etc. But the slideshows are just meh.

It's hard to beat a writeup w/ good pics via a DSLR.

I like a combination of both. Pics are crucial for show n shines, but video's of the process are nice as well. Still shots always have better quality in my opinion.

I prefer videos that showcase my work, process, as well as interesting commentary.

It seems I have developed quite the following from the videos I post. I'm not much for stills, they're boring to me.

I like both, but often come back to view pictures more than once.

I think it really depends on the video. You have a particular style with your videos that makes them entertaining, informative, and worth watching. Others I've seen don't come up to that standard.

Personally I feel that there's a lot of value in using both formats depending on what you're trying to show. You can't get the same amount of visual detail from a video that you can get with good stills shot with a DSLR.

Thanks a bunch, Charlie. I appreciate that.

I will post pics with my videos from now on for those that prefer pics.

Unfortunately you can never make everyone happy, but I will try my best.

They both have their place but if I had to choose one over the other it would be pictures.

Videos can't show the same detail pictures can though.

Why not? I do my best to show as much detail as possible. You may not know this since you skip past videos, but mine are very detailed.

The difference between videos and photos is that you have the chance to inspect every quare inch in a photo, but you must be patient with a video. Pause works well in this case. If you question correction or whatever else all you need to do is press pause and viola... You have a still.

I have always questioned how much of a pic has been edited. Photoshop can do wonders for your ability to detail. My videos, and my pictures for that matter are raw. What you see when I post is what comes out of my camera with the exception of cutting and splicing the videos.

I always question a picture.

prefer video for product demonstrations, how-to's

prefer pictures for showing before and after comparison

I will agree that a picture could always be manipulated, but there is no way a video can show the same detail as a picture. It's just not possible. I've seen your videos, and I'm not saying they are bad, but they don't show as much detail as if you took pictures with a DSLR. Just my .02.

I agree I like to see videos for how-to guides.

I agree Dave, videos do nothing to show a good detail as well as pictures do. I also don't care for video reviews, seems like a lazy way to properly review a product.
